I've just finished reading Rod Stewart's book Rod: The Autobiography and a rollicking good read it is too (I love rock biographies and I'd put this one up there with Rick Wakeman's Grumpy Old Rock Star for laugh out loud self deprecating humour and revealing rock'n'roll insight).
I couldn't help but notice that Rod makes no mention at all of his guest vocals with the Australian band Python Lee Jackson. He recorded three songs with them in 1969, one of which - In a Broken Dream - reached #3 in the UK chart when it was re-released in 1972. If you've not heard it (most Rod fans will know it well) get over to YouTube and have yourself a listen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IvUEzrQBSeo - it's one of my favourite Rod Stewart songs from this period.
Legend has it that Rod was paid for the sessions with a set of seat covers for his car (!) but nevertheless I'm surprised he makes no mention of the recordings in his book.
