Neutered tom cat smell
Fred Splunge
10-06-2016
Hello. We're in the process of befriending the local stray, an adult intact tomcat. It's fair to say that he smells, bad! He is also quite vocal. Obviously, if we do get anywhere with him we'll be getting him done, but I'm wondering whether that will sort out the spraying smell. I appreciate he'll probably always have the urge to spray, I'm just mainly concerned with whether the smell will reduce after neutering. Many thanks.

Yes, it should do. My tom cats were neutered early so they hadn't got to the really smelly stage, but I think the strong odour will go after you neuter your cat. Good for you for taking him in!
