This series is benefiting from having some older people.

Some of them can actually have a decent conversation, which has been lacking in the regular version for some time.

I think the older HMs are making it worse, and I've yet to hear a "decent conversation" from any HM this year.

production will not let us hear the decent conversations. The immature behaviour displayed by a few is what is celebrated and shown.

It doesn't matter from our point of view, as they won't get shown on the highlights.

Yeah, I agree. I think the house always needs a few 'wet behind the ears' types, like the Tory guy and the rich guy from last year.

I agree.

Seemingly the production team are still under the impression that what we want are the antics of Marco and Laura.

Not this viewer.

I like a mix of ages.

Usual mentality as in every year in this era

Shouting, screaming or in a showmance = Entertaining and lots of airtime

Outside of the above you automatically incur a 'boring' tag

Yes and it's a shame as I'm sure most of the people labelled "boring" are actually very interesting and entertaining people. They are just not given the same attention.

Agreed, I've not heard anything smart.

I agree. I like the spread of the ages.

Yep, and some of the older ones are my favourites. I like having Jayne, and I can't think of a series which has had nearly as many older HMs as this one.

I think a lot of the time, the older Housemates they've picked are the more immature ones. Think of BB15 - the oldest Housemate was Pauline and the youngest was Ashleigh, compare the maturity, intelligence and emotional control between those two ladies.

Although I do like Jayne a lot.

I think a mix in the range of HMs in their 20s and 30s can be good. But HMs over 40 have a poor track record.

Anyway, FWIW, computing the 'variance' in age by series shows this series behind BBs 8 and 14:

BB1 7.88
BB2 28.36
BB3 38.55
BB4 16.95
BB5 41.47
BB6 30.0
BB7 52.63
BB8 127.69
BB9 54.06
BB10 26.72
BB11 38.15
BB12 17.26
BB13 30.3
BB14 103.13
BB15 41.99
BB16 65.92
