Not sure he was trying to pass there. Looked like he was just trying to knock it to the side of the defender but overhit it because he was stretching for it.
They all count though!
A lot of people across the world would have tuned into this game just to watch Bale. He's been quiet but it's been a really good match especially for an early group game.

So far, all of these games have been decent, at worse.

Russia has been an underachieving footballing nation, especially considering its size, for as long as I can remember - certainly were when they were the USSR and not much different since they became plain old Russia.

I wouldn't worry about other scores too much, the tournament format only dropping 8 group sides means a single win is almost enough in itself to go through a lot of the time.

They're riding their luck a little, they look a bit too loose in defence
This will really put the pressure on both sides this evening to try and get the win, as neither England or Russia will want to be playing catch-up, even at this early stage.
