That wasn't far away from Mak.

Ledley on for Wales, and Robson-Kanu too as soon as the fourth official puts up the right number.

Jonny Williams off after having a splendid game in midfield.

What I object to is what you said, the way you said it.

That isn't his defending style, it can be a part of his game, if he feels he can get an advantage from it if he has to. But there's more to him than that. He's a physical defender who puts everything he can into defending. He puts his body on the line, and will just do whatever he needs to do to keep his opponent from scoring.

He knows how to defend because he's been doing it for years, even if he's had a poor season and isn't as good as he once was. He can be prone to errors or fouls because of his tackling, but that's it. The way you describe him is just wrong. I've asked you a few times now what you've based your opinion on, how much you've actually seen him. If you watch him as much as a Liverpool fan would you'd see there's a lot more to him than pulling shirts.

The point is, he's not a thug, and he DOES know how to defend.”

Okay, let's put this to one side and just enjoy the rest of this match, rather than debating the merits of Skrtel as a defender, as it taking up a fair bit of space in the thread.

Fantastic goal, well created and then a skilled, composed finish.

Wales looking a bit overrated at the moment.

Well done, Jonnny, excellent game.

Ledley on after breaking his leg just 5 weeks a go. Amazing.

This game is very finely balanced, and could go either way.

There is no bias there in saying that was a foul, and should have been a penalty, and a red card, as no matter who the player is, that is what should have happened.

Only those that are defending him and his actions are showing bias.”

Let's have a reminder of what you posted...

Totally OTT, attacking the player rather than just commenting on the incident. You've contradicted yourself. Yet again.

Not many are defending the player over the incidents in question - they're just rightly objecting to the portrayal of Skrtel generally as "a thug".

The fact he's constantly bullied by physical strikers in the PL is further proof that he's simply a rash, average defender.

It's going to be a tight group as England and Russia will expect to beat these two but may not as they're both battling sides and they're always tricky.

Ramsey and Bale have done very little in open play as far as I can see. Both have been disappointing and Wales urgently need at least one of them to tun it on.

Skirtel's is a thug, he has proved this time and time again.

A deliberate assault today, uefa should ban him

Both sides know that they may not get any points from England and Russia.

Okay fine, I take back or retract the thug comment, but his defending does leave a lot to be desired at the best of times, is that a more fitting way to describe him?

A draw wouldn't be that bad a result for either today, keeps them both in the tournament

Hamsik and Duda look more dangerous to be honest.

Was expecting to see Bale run with the ball often in this one. He's been very quiet in that regard.

I thought Russia had been devastated by recent injuries to numerous key players.
