I refuse to be pessimistic about this England squad. We have lots of good young players who are not tainted by under-performing in previous tournaments and most are coming off strong seasons for their clubs. I'm looking forward to reaching the semi finals at least.

(I shall claim someone hacked my account and posted this when it all goes wrong)

I'm predicting a very underwhelming performance. Same old same old.

Edging a 1-0 win.

Oh, dear God, not these two again.

Bartoli asking a question about Rooney's position as if she knows what the hell she's talking about

Chiles was the closest ITV have had to a charismatic football presenter in years, fair play he wasn't everyone's cup of tea but he always got praise during the tournaments like the WC and the Euros when he was given more time and allowed to show his greatest qualities, Pougatch is okay but nothing special.

They've already got her on the books and she was probably cheap as.

I think they're trying too hard to make her some sort of darling of the British media, since she won at Wimbledon and everything. She was annoying at the French Open too. Shame because I do like her as a person, but she's just a terrible commentator. She shouldn't have retired from tennis so promptly, I never understood why she did it.

Yes at least Chiles tried to crack the odd gag. This new bloke thinks he's Jeremy Kyle.

Perhaps it's fuelled by continuing guilt about what John Inverdale said about her after she won Wimbledon.

I can see the logic of this tbh . Sterling seems to do well for England anyways but then they can bring on lightening fast Vardy after 60 minutes when their aging , depleted team are flagging . Could be a masterful stroke .
I wouldn;t. Jamie Vardy isn;t aa wide player

Roy has to be one of the most uninspiring, demotivating people I've ever heard.

Sterling has to step up if he is keeping Vardy out the side. Prediction: 2-1 to England.

it's the 11 most thought it would be... but hopefully alli is not sitting too deep.
I'm hoping it turns out to be 4-3-3 and not 4-2-3-1 and Alli gets closer to Kane - but that does mean Rooney pushed wider. If Rooney wanders into Alli and events Kane's space it could short circuit things. He follows the ball around and may not help the shape if he does that tonight. Equally, he could win the game for us too. Let's hope a week's training has fine tuned things nicely
