Rooney is a good passer of the ball, but there was NO ONE within 10-15 yards of him throughout most of the match.

But what did Sterling do with the ball???

He lost it, played short passes, run into dead ends, gave fouls away.

Nothing positive came from him being on the pitch, £50 million, I wouldn't pay 50p for him on that performance.

I'd say Wales should be a bigger challenge than Slovakia but we need to win the group to have the easiest route.

The Rooney shot came from his play. Which is one thing more than Milner.

I do think England will lose to Wales but Beat Slovakia and muddle through only to lose the next Match to Portugal, Austria, Spain or Germany.

England against Wales will be played like a derby

In countless good positions tonight and consistently lost the ball or made an awful decision. Nothing changed at any point with him which is why Hodgson should have taken him off around the 60 minute mark. Could easily have brought on a Sturridge or Vardy for him who both provide enough pace to threaten the defence but actually have an end product to put them to bed.

Strange that you know that considering you said you wasn't going to watch England again.”

Granted there's time where he runs at defences and makes the wrong decision, but I'm not having he has zero end product, he's just not consistent. It was only the last game where he put an inch perfect ball on to the top of Smallings head.

He's only 21 and expect Pep to get the most out of him.

It's always easy say to someone could do the same job when they don't play, anyway I suspect Sterling will be the one to take the blame and he'll be benched for the Wales game.

Vardy for Stering on 55 minutes, 10 minutes into the 2nd half and it was clear to see that Sterling was not going to improve. That alone could have been enough to improve us. If Kane hadn't improved after that, i would bring Sturridge on after 70 minutes. The Lallana sub is basic management. He got tired and faded from the game, someone like Rashford would have been a perfect sub to bring on for the last 10-15 minutes. He's quick and fresh, having him running at a slow and tired Russian defense would have been perfect.

Hodgson's job really wasn't that hard, he just never reacted. He sat there and waited. He planned it all terribly.

Just caught up with the game, and frankly bemused by the substitution of Sterling.

Well, we had better beat the Welsh on Thursday.

Now if you were England manager we would have won the last World Cup and we would have scored ten against Russia tonight

In the first half, yes, but in the second half our chances dried up. That is when Hodgson should have acted, but he didn't, he sat and waited. It took a free kick to open Russia up.

Sterling was pace with no end product tonight. Lallana and Kane were both poor.

Certainly no more deserving of a place on tonight's effort over Walcott(Sterling).

Most rational fans would say we played well but just weren't ruthless or positive enough once we got ahead. End product was poor though and may cost Sterling and maybe Lallana their places. Kane was quiet as well - not as busy as he should be, looks tired.

Certainly would have taken Sterling off with 20 minutes left as he looked tired, but not with Milner!. Vardy would have given us a new outlet.

Lallana was one of the best players on the pitch in the first half for me even if he did fade in the second half. I agree Kane wasn't great but I would still have him there as if he gets a chance he doesn't miss.

Sterlings distribution was awful

He is one of the worst finishers i have ever seen

All he does run up and down the wing making Roy think he is actually doing something

A England fan is apparently dying from his/her injuries. Not sure if it's someone at the stadium or from earlier. Very worrying news.
