He can't control the ball half the time, his touch is heavy, he's afraid to shoot because he has an awful finish and he's a chicken. When that ball was played into the area he completely wimped out, if that was Vardy, that would have been a goal.

so much frustration in that first half. Only two good things out of it. England players making chances and Lallana

Enjoyed that half a lot hopefully the goal will come but showing a lot of passion and energy so far can't complain

I can so see Russia scoring.
Roy seems much more animated. I think he knows that this is probably his last tournament unless England reach the QF'S/

I think Chico will be saying to himself that it is

Vardy time

I think it's worth giving Akinfeev some mid and long range shots to deal with as he does not look overly confident in the way he punches them out.

That was probably a better performance than all of our last WC matches.

Still I'd take off Kane, he's done nothing. Possibly Sterling. Everyone else has done fine.

My biggest concern is the Russian manager is a good tactician. I think he'll be pleased with 0-0 so will look to hang back and limit space in the second half. We needed to make our chances count in the first.

Think we made more chances in that half than we did in the last 3 tournaments combined

Good half but poor finishing.Russia no threat at all so far.

Rooney MOTM this half, more than justifying his selection

Been a good half from England and the "Independence Day Resurgence" TV spot thats just been on made me giggle

I'm usually ready to jump all over Sterling, but he's been good one of our better players that half.

But 0-0 could it be same old? come on lads.

Walker and Rose doing alright, Rooney some nice touches and passes and decent shot on goal. Sterling and Kane need to get in the game more in 2nd half.

What are the odds on Vardy being Next goalscorer

That's was a decent performance by all of the England team, just lacking the goal(s) that their dominance deserved.

No idea at all why Kane is taking corners, it is not as though he is any good at doing so and would obviously, I would have thought, be of more use to be receiving the corners in the penalty area.

Except Vardy was inept in that position against Portugal - Sterling assists Rose and has a clear idea about what he's doing. If we put Vardy on for him we'll have to change the formation too.

I think he is a below par keeper, whenever we at club level have faced him, I always think we will score a couple past him, and we should be doing the same here.

All we have done is shoot straight at him, if you actually force him to dive or actually make a decision, them he is quite poor I think, but alas we have not done that so far.

Punditry obnoxiously hyperbolic already. The performance has been quite good but it's still 0-0. You'd think it was 3-0.

We just need to get some composure in the final third and we'll win this. Russia should tire as the game goes on. Great intensity from England so far.

The pundits are very poor on ITV compared to ones on the BBC who are great

I don't think he was, we were just playing too slow and not getting the best out of him.
