Stan Collymore's commentary on the periscope makes clear it was a large group of Russian fans charging the England section, including young kids.
This incident does make it clear that it's not simply a case of automatically pointing the finger at English hooligans for the trouble that's occurred so far. |

But it can't be Russian fans charging, it's England supporters causing all the trouble. I read it on here.

Russian "ultras" with balaclavas, charging regular england supporters. Why isnt this mentioned at all? Who on earth is going to travel to the russian world cup in 2 years? |

Why are the England fans causing trouble at these Euros. It seems every tournament some idiots start to cause trouble and they always seem to be England fans. I hope the French police arrest those fans and jail them and then ban them from England matches for life
Secondly it's a minority of the England fans out there. Thirdly it not every tournament, just the ones close and easy to get to. Fourthly I'm not defending any of these minority of England "fans" behaviour but the knee jerk reaction and instant reaction to completely blame ONLY the England side is embarrassing. A flare was let off in the stadium and smoke bombs towards the end of the game. In the Russian end. There's now attacks going on in the ground by Russian fans against England fans. Let's not make the mistake of thinking this is ONLY and English problem. We have some scumbags that follow football in this country and start trouble but there are plenty of other scumbags more than ready to contribute from other countries around Europe. They should all be condemned, whatever nationality they are. Knuckle dragging scum. |

of course i care
Im loving the tournament so far i may want hodgson gone before i can watch england again, but i do not want trouble from fans at any price. I have watched fan violence get more and more this season and the FA do nothing whatsoever. This is the result, probably england banned from europe |

But you don't support England and so don't go to games so there's no need for the outrage.
im outraged for the innocent fans, and the tournement itself And if there are recriminatoins in club football. ITV still not mentioning the violence!!! |

If the OP actually read/watched/heard some eye witness accounts rather than creating inane threads they would already know that today's trouble was largely caused by organised groups of Russian fans seeking out England fans. We've obviously got some of the usual cretins over there but we've also got a reputation and opposition fans and locals see getting one over us as some sort of trophy and I suspect the robust policing doesn't help matters. Not an easy problem to solve.

I imagine UEFA will take a very dim view of fighting inside the arena tonight. Violence inside the stadium during a major tournament is nearly unheard of.
I don't envy UEFA having to sort this all out with the French police and authorities and the English and Russian FAs, I must say. |

But equally is a lack of segregation and policing inside the stadium.

for the last few days a lairy bunch of drunk/drugged up less than 500 English holligans have been given it big licks in the port area, this has been beamed across the world and acted as an invite to all local thugs and Russians to come down to engage them. Unfortunately the Russians and locals have seen this as a free invite to fight with any fan in England shirts.

They need to wait for the next games and see whether trouble continues for Russia or England games or both. |

The details hardly matter.
There is no doubt in my mind that we have just seen the last match in this tournament involving Russia and England. ![]() Wales and Slovakia are through. |

And of course you know that the Russians only arrived later, and weren't instigating it from the start....
They need to wait for the next games and see whether trouble continues for Russia or England games or both. |
