I have no idea what the agenda behind it was.

But it's undeniable that the blame was immediately placed solely at the door of the English before any kind of clear picture could be formed. And many just went along with it.

.
Yes, but if it's considered a dangerous security issue, it'll be taken out of their hands.
Maybe because it's Marseille, they've been slower to act. If it had happened on the streets of Paris, they surely couldn't have ignored it ? There's a genuine terrorist threat, it wouldn't surprise me at all if something happens before the tournament is over. They can't control the streets while there are rampaging thugs roaming around.

German and Ukrainian fans fighting with each other in Lille now.

Be the English fans fault though.

Probably because Ukraine has historically been part of Russia for centuries, whereas England and Germany where never part of the same state (except the EU ).

this is getting stupid now.

i asked a question before, is this the end of tournament football?

if fans cannot stop fighting and trying to kill themselves, its inevitable

Why would it be the end of tournament football? Hooliganism isn't a new thing.

Far from it : the World Cup in 2014 was a wonderful success for example

UEFA have no right to ban teams for trouble on the streets. They can only do it if there is trouble in the stadium and it's environs.

I don't think they will stop anything unless all 24 teams kick off..

They will just punish the countries involved..

And that will generally be a fine/games behind closed doors.

I am sorry, you are completely incorect. Your "no right" argument seems like a schoolyard argument.

UEFA directives hold the appropriate football authority to account if their fans misbehave inside OR outside the stadia.

Where are the statememnts from the FA, roy and the england captain?

From the BBC website: "Uefa said it had not taken any action against the English FA, as skirmishes involving England fans before kick-off fell outside its remit."

I wasn't making a schoolyard point, just reporting a fact.

I think you are confusing me with someone who gives a flying one about England! No-one cheered louder (probably) than me when Russia scored last night. I was just stating a fact.

I posted this in the other thread in GD:

They had the opportunity 4 years ago with the Russians.
Apart from a fine and suspended points deduction they did nothing. The suspended points deduction was only in place until the end of qualifying for this tournament.
Now that suspension has run out they've just repeated the exact same infringements they were sanctioned for last time round!

Here's an article from the time of the last Euro tournament:
