I had the impression he was jealous. She was out, came in don't know but presume there was an argument and he lost the plot and killed her in temper - then panicked, when he realised how stupid he had been.

i agree, but she was already at the house when he returned home that night, as she'd been staying there, he came in ,they had dinner, then kicked off arguing around 3am.

He is guilty and made up the story of mistaking Reeva for an Intruder ,-, he even got his phone wiped of data with the help of his brother Carl - , Oscar had more than one phone, and one disappeared the night of the crime (it was on crime scene photos) , and then was handed in to police weeks later by Carl Pistorius (Oscar's brother) cleared of data.
Why? hmm , something he didn't want the police to find and the evidence used in Court.


and the Supreme Court's findings when they overturned the CH conviction to that of Murder >> :

The five judges, who were unanimous in their verdict, said Pistorius’ evidence and explanations for killing Steenkamp were “implausible” and he had “never offered an acceptable explanation” for firing four times through a closed door.


If he'd been telling the truth , he'd have been able to answer these questions, but he never did.

He was never going to get more than that because of mitigating circumstances: disabled, felt vulnerable - didn't have his prosthetics on, so was shorter, thought it was an intruder, reaction afterwards - trying to revive her, begging people to help her etc can be interpreted as he didn't mean to shoot her. All this makes it manslaughter/culpable homicide, which he was charged with and found guilty.

Then there was the public/media reaction to the sentence, this is why it was sent to higher court, not because the prosecution had proven murder but because people thought he had got off lightly because of who he is, and a rich family. They brought up about how many bullets he fired.

Well I say that if I was in the same circumstances, woke up, thought there was an intruder picked up gun to defend myself, then I would keep firing that gun until there were no more bullets. Would that be overkill? Yes it would but if you are woken because of a noise, you are disorientated and you don't stop to think, you react.

Did he genuinely forget she was there, we will never know, they argued what over no-one really knows because we will never know both sides of the story, I find it strange that she would have been at his house the night before she was going to be interviewed about domestic violence, that confused me. However I did read at the time that her mother was behind the relationship and persuaded her daughter not to leave him (don't asked me where, because I can't remember), It could be that he wasn't expecting her there that night and after a few drinks with a late dinner, the argument, he fell asleep before she got in bed, was woken by a noise. in bed by himself so he assumed it was an intruder.

To be honest I have always thought it to be more manslaughter than murder, it was his reaction to a situation and it ended tragically. I had this same argument with OH, he said he murdered her, yes he did but it wasn't pre-meditated and the prosecution didn't prove it and the evidence said differently.

It's murder which ever way you look at it, he intended to kill whoever was behind a locked toilet door.

Yes, but not her specifically, which is what he was charged with. If it was as he said, an intruder then it would be a completely different case. (imo)

She happened to be behind the locked toilet door, so yes murder.

But he said he didn't know it was her, so self defence, manslaughter.

It doesn't matter that he 'didn't know it was her', he discharged a weapon with the intent to kill without any seen threat.

He didn't bother to check she was safely in bed, and the love of his life had locked her self in the toilet with a mobile phone.

This is where the grey area creeps in, we only have what he says to go on, the argument hasn't been discussed she could have said she leaving and he assumed she had. Therefore in his mind she wasn't there.

What matters is that he murdered an unarmed person, even if it had been an intruder the facts of the case is that it is murder.

Only if he survives, dome.
