I used to always give them something until I began to notice it was almost all Eastern Europeans and people began noticing them getting picked up always at the same time late afternoon in BMW's and Mercs with well dressed drivers, then it was reported some of them were living in affluent areas up here and sending their kids out to beg.
No more! I only give to known charities now. One guy was living in a very affluent area of Edinburgh and he was apparently making a couple of thousand a week out begging on Princes Street

I think its' stopped there altogether now, but there are still beggars in doorways in all the big cities they can't stop it completely.
