Having heard nothing from the fitters, an email was sent today, saying you've got 24 hrs to put it right.
Surprisingly a phone call came through an hour later. He knew nothing about the email, nothing about the arrangement for after 4 o'clock Tuesday and nothing about any problem with the window.
Fitters turned up a while later and insisted the hinges were correctly fitted. Thankfully my husband had taken photographs of the old, discoloured, and short (they were for a much smaller window) hinges they had fitted on Monday and they were upside down. They hadn't a leg to stand on.
We now have nice shiny new hinges. I'd like to give them a bad review but they know where we live.

Sly bastards

. Why try to wriggle out of it ? I cannot stand that feeling where you just know someone is mugging you off . Good for hubby .
As for the review ? I'm in a similar quandary over our car . You might (or might not) recall the hit and run we had ? Well prior to that we had a massive issue with water coming into the drivers footwell of the car ....and I mean WATER ! Pulled the carpet back and there was literally 2" of water sloshing around . Had been building up and hubby hadn't noticed (I don't drive or I bloody would) . So took it to the dealer (Suzuki) and they kept it for a week and returned it "fixed" . Absolutely sopping wet still , but apparently it was up to us to dry it out . I was fuuuuming but whatever . One week later was the hit and run. Took it to a local garage(
not suzuki) , got the damage fixed , (great price, very pleased) , then asked him about the water which I'd discovered was still coming in. He said
"drop it in on Sat morning, he'd find the problem and then we could go give the dealer a good bollocking and tell them what was ACTUALLY wrong" . Sat afternoon we collected the car from him, leak fixed. He said Suzuki had found the problem OK, but only part sealed it from letting water in. He sealed it thoroughly, got his kid to dry out the under carpet area by about 80% and asked for £10 . Seriously ? He got £20 and many thanks .
My problem is that the Suzuki dealer wants an online review . I'm busting my ass to tell them they are shite and I'm not happy, but what happens if we need to go back to them with a bigger issue ? Can you imagine them greeting us warmly ? Going out of their way to fit us in ? I'd say not .
So yeah Tess , I see your problem and empathise totally . I decided that if I get contacted by the dealership I'll be straight with them and say I wasn't happy with the "work" half heartedly carried out, so I'd rather they not press me for a review because they might not like the result . Then leave it at that . What can you do eh

.
