The Ukrainians will target the Northern Ireland match as the chance to rack up their goal difference enough to at least be one of the best third place qualifiers.
Do you think Northren Ireland can beat the Ukraine as they did not impress me tonight against Germany

Classic counter attack - and they had 3 in the box!

Not overly impressed with Germany but they were good at times. They do always seem to manage to win, it's a bit annoying, you kind of want them to feel the pain that we have to go through for once!

Kind of happy in the end though as I predicted 2-0 in sweepstake!

I avoided the pundits, nor did have to have someone incessantly bangin' in my ear for 90 minutes. Sheer bliss, I chose the "no commentary" option. All the atmosphere and none of the irritations.
I haven't actually used that feature before. I may well be tempted to give it a go. I've watched a couple of matches with no sound when I'm in the library researching and it's been ok so a bit of crowd noise and no commentary should be good.

Ukraine looked so much better than NI. I don't know what you're on about. They had Germany on the ropes going into half time.

Pundits completely overdoing the Germany praise.
I switched to the radio 5 commentary after Pearce and Murphy started ranting about how poor Ukraine were and then had to stop to comment on the way Ukraine were tearing holes in the German defence in the first half. The studio lot are not much better either. They are embarrassing, revealing to me a deep seated sense of inferiority about the German team and proving incapable of making objective professional judgements.

Ukraine who created some great chances, needing a couple of top saves from Neuer and an insane clearance off the line to keep them out impressed you less than a Northern Ireland who created **** all?

I think it's just BBC kissing the arse of the big teams to try to hype things up. They did the same after every pedestrian Brazil performance at the last World Cup.

That clearance off the line from Boateng looks even more impressive when you see how totally off-balance he was as he was heading into the back of his own net.

They scored twice and the other team didn't score any.

The fawning over Brazil is embarrassing.

Tbf that's not what he said. Everybody recognises that NI are the weakest team in the group and knew that going into the tournament. However if we are going to pick up points anywhere it will be against Ukraine, as we stand no chance against Germany if they play like that.

We've beaten teams of a similar quality to Ukraine before, including in our own qualifying group (very similar to Hungary).

Most people writing off NI's chances are doing so on the back of one poor offensive performance. Those of us who have watched and supported them throughout this campaign and others know that what we saw today was not indicative of what the side is capable of when they are on form.

Lose or draw to Ukraine and we are out, but until then, I remain cautiously optimistic that we can beat that Ukrainian side.

You are right about me, I have only seen NI for one match, today's truly woeful performance. And if I think about what you say, they obviously couldn't have played such dire, negative football and won their qualifying group. So I will look forward to a more expansive attacking performance from Northern Ireland in their next game

Fair post. Northern Ireland did phenomenally well to get to this point. I did see a few of the games. They have to play without fear and actually set up the team to go and win though, which I'm sure you agree with. Ukraine still favourites for that match.

Yes, agreed on all points. The only time we're ever favourites to win is when we're playing minnows. We're always underdogs and it's a tag that suits us.

I'd point towards the 3-1 win over Greece - the match that earned us qualification - as proof that we can be disciplined in defence yet positive in attack, especially when the pressure is on.

I certainly hope so!

We were top scorers in our qualifying group as well so it's not as if we qualified by scraping victories the whole way.

The question is obviously can we perform to that same level under intense pressure? We did in qualifying in matches against Greece and Hungary, but this is something else entirely.

Anyways to bring it back to Germany, weak at the back but I'd be shocked if they didn't reach the semis due to their overall control of the game and top class attacking talent.

Michael should throw off the shackles - a draw against Ukraine is probably useless so they may as well go for it, no matter how risky it is

I wish bloody Boateng would play like that for Bayern!

Germany looks strong as usual because of a superior manager and better organisation and good cool technicians.

But Hoewedes is a liability. A better attack can absolutely take them apart.
