Can i record from DVD player to VCR ?

Can i record from DVD player to VCR ?
Hey just brought a new samsung DVD player yesterday for £50 on sale from £150 so good deal. Its a samsung one i connected it up to my VCR with the AV cables. Put in a Copyrighted DVD into the drive tried to record onto VCR didnt work. Im just wondering is their anyway to get past this ?

Grab a Macrovision box from e-bay, or a special SCART cable from e-bay. (my special box was £30) - of course you must only copy films that you hold the copyright to.
