Kids watch Big Brother. Kids copy what people do off the telly. And then this happens: http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news...-death-8122055

But C5 put up a warning so that's all OK then.

Exactly where is C5's line? Onscreen drug-taking good for ratings? I'm sure Marco would oblige. He's clearly fallen off the wagon since his rehab and AA days.

Strangling Marco is not entirely a bad thing, but perhaps they shouldn't have shown it.

Sorry, but why should children be watching BB anyway?

I see the point, but surely it's up to the parent(s) to supervise what they can/can't watch in the first place...

Do they not have an intercom in that pod thing or something?! They interject and call people to the diary room when non-pysical arguments kick off yet Laura is strangling marco and they don't say anything???

It's sounds over dramatic but I've got to the point where I will honestly not be to surprised if Marco either ends up attacking someone or seriously hurting himself. He is unhinged.

On a completely dramatic note, could BB, the show that gave birth to reality TV be the one that this time kills reality TV through taking it to far.

Firstly, young children shouldn't be watching Big Brother. However, we know children do anyway...I did. Secondly, even if they are, there is something wrong with them if they copy something like strangulation because they've seen it on tv. That's an issue with the child, not BB's fault. I was about 12 when BB1 was on tv and I watched it...never in a million years would I have copied something like that.

I was shocked that BB did not intervene and call them to the DR.

I was shocked that they chose to show it.

A bit of a 'new low' really.

Wouldn't it be better if parents control TV watching by children after the watershed rather than sanitising TV that can be copied, you would have to remove all violence from Crime Dramas, Eastenders etc.
More people in the UK die from violence than Auto-erotic asphyxia.

I honestly don't think that the warnings are there just to abide by the rules of broadcasting standards, they deliberately spice up the wording as a little taster to keep people glued to the show rather than flicking through other channels.

As I posted in my other thread, the warning may not have legal weight anyway. Showing strangulation in porn films is illegal. Warning people you're going to do it doesn't sidestep that law.

It was like a soft porn film in parts tonight.
Sucking her tit, fingering her and the strangulation scene.

Vile.

Not if they're set up correctly. There are child-safety features that can block certain websites etc.

What I really want to know is... Day 2 was the snogging in the pod 'that's enough for day two, keep on watching for more' he said. And then today, we got all of this filth! What treats (vomit) have we got to look forward to in the coming weeks?! If things escalate that quickly within days?!

I don't actually mind that it was broadcast, but it should have been broadcast involving Big Brother intervening and giving them both serious warnings.

I kept waiting for Big Brother to stop them and was shocked when it didn't happen. I found that really uncomfortable to watch.

I do find it a bit odd that they have different 'warnings' (ie, disclaimers) at the start of each part, yet the heads-up about "dangerous sexual activity" was at the start of the show and the strangulation wasn't shown until after several commercial breaks. It's hard not to believe that, while they have an obligation to warn the faint-hearted, this was a bit of a hook for a lot of people. Each time the ads came on I did wonder when we were going to see something, and what it would be. I'm sure I'm not alone in having my curiosity piqued by the so-called warning.

This. The health and safety nanny state bullshit is out of control in this country and it's all the complainers like the people in this thread making it constantly worse

It's not TV's responsibility to look after people's kids, it's the parents responsibility, if it's a show made for adults or after the watershed, parents should make sure their children aren't watching it. If their children do watch it, it's the parents fault

I guess Hazel didn't want to play this game with Daley!
No, she wanted to make him more and more angry even after he had told her to stop and leave him alone. What is your point?
