I still have a soft spot for Pique, so glad it was him that scored.

Don't think the Germans should have a lot to fear from this lot. Any side with a decent counter-attack can get at them.

The Czechs just haven't shown enough ambition for me to feel any sympathy for them going behind at such a late stage of the game. I can't say I have enjoyed watching Spain today but they deserve to win the game.

Their match with Spain here will be very interesting, as Croatia are a very good side.

I'm surprised Pique didn't give it three touches before shooting.

Now that would have been an undeserved equaliser.

600 minutes now since Spain conceded a goal at the Euros.

De Gea doing what he does so well, making terrific saves!

Vital to start well and get the three points, so congratulations to Spain on both.

That was bit of a 1-0 thrashing.

That's a heck of a statistic.

So, for the second time in Euro 2016, the team that played for a point from the very first whistle did not get it.

Heartening.

Tyldesley taking about an unexpectedly slim margin of victory. Spain are the ultimate 1-0 team.

I thought Spain would find the breakthrough sooner against such a beatable side and win it more comfortably, but job done I guess. Onwards and upwards, and they haven't overly exerted themselves in this first fixture.

And as I recall 1-0 didn't do Leicester City any harm this season

That's the fourth 1-0 scoreline from the first 8 games of this tournament. Slightly disappointing after such a wild 2014 World Cup.

It sure is, although all great stats are made to be broken, and it would be a pity if it was a goal scored past De Gea which broke that impressive record.

We would have a lot more goals if players would stop hitting their shot's straight at the keeper every time.

Simple ball in - simple header.

Sometimes football doesn't have to be so pretty!
