Let me explain the history of Big Brothers Biggest trademark, the now infamous eye logo.
In big brother 1 producers Shot footage of contestant Melanie Hill for the opening Title sequence.
when the show was a big hit producers decided they wanted to go in a different Art deco style direction for the second run and recruited designer Daniel Eatock to design a signature Logo that would be instantly recognisable and give the series its own identity.
The second logo was designed to invock 'interference' on a tv screen. the simple horizontol lines were a big hit and producers wanted to keep the basic logo but change some elements for series 3
the series three eye was designed to play on the fact that Big brother was addictive. the 'hypnotic' green, Orange and yellow logo (again designed by Daniel Eatock) wasnt received well at first but was soon loved by all.
By now the fans of the show had come expect some sort of 'play' on lines with the big brother logo and so for series four they had Daniel design a logo that would compliment the new 'light' theme of the show. the psycodelic rainbow eye withe the sun bea lines was an eye sore at first. but again the logo grew on us and some was the shows most successful logo to date.
But the show wasnt a success and so producers decided to get evil for series 5.
when the evil eye for series 5 was first released fans moaned that it was unoriginal as it was far too similar to series 2 horizontal lines.
when it was finally seen in all its spiky red, satanic glory on screen the logo became the fans favourite.
now as BB6 draws nearer were treated to Version 6 of the logo, called 'shattered' again designed by Daniel. This years Logo has been designed with a hidden meaning sparking rumours of a split house. unusualy different, yet quite a simple idea, it will no doubt become iconic of BB6
