He isn't going to get any better he's over 30 now
I don't expect him to get better, it's not really about that, it's about being good to watch. If i was a Portugal fan or player, he would annoy me. If he can see the goal, he is shooting, even when there are better options. He get's a massive amount of goals, but playing for a team like Portugal, who don't have many top players, he needs to be more of a team player.

I just don't find Ronaldo to be an entertaining footballer. I seen enough people taking long range shots for fun when i was in school

Does he need to get any better

He scores over Fifty goals a season

Wins the Champions League nearly every year

He is always in the running to be World player of the year

Alright there is going to be time when he wont be as good as he was, but at this time he is still one of best players in the world and he will always score goals

Some of these comments are pathetic....I dont see how anyone who considers themselves a football fan dont want to see some of the greats or great players continue to play at their best abilities for years to come. I wouldnt wish that on anyone. Why are some of you guys wishing that Cristiano's performance lessen with ages . He trains extremely hard and has a great physical endurance so I see him perform at a high level for a few more years to come.

I cant stand Messi as a person but he is an amazing player; I wish to see him perform at a great level for years to come; We are blessed to be in a era where we have players like cristiano, Messi, Bale, Benzema..........
Some of the critcisms veered towards Cristiano are unfair and unwarranted; God Forbid this man has an off game , he is labelled as a FLOP,

Anyways, Portugal played well tonight but they were slightly unclucky; story of their lives.

Urghhhhh reminds me once again why I checked this part of forum ............

Congratulations to Iceland on a well deserved point. Yes, they rode their luck at times but overall they defended well and created enough chances to win it, playing some good football along the way. Top marks for their supporters too. Loved their unique chanting!

The only people 'wanting him to perform badly' or whatever just wanted the underdog team to hang on for their point. Hardly a capital crime.

Oh come on, you gotta admit that Ronaldo is incredibly boring to watch these days. What does he do now but take a bunch of shots ? He's not exactly a player i would pay money to watch these days. He's boring.

"Iceland only tried to defend... they had two chances and then did not try to score. They celebrated like they had won the Euro cup or something. That's a small mentality. That's why they'll do nothing."

Pathetic comment there from Ronny, really showing himself up as a bad sport. Portugal are a very unlikable team.

Well it's a good job you and your Portuguese teammates rammed all that back down their throats by finding a winning goa...

Oh. That's right. You didn't.

The stand out action from Ronaldo tonight was his boorish ignoring of the Icelandic player offering to shake hands after the final whistle. Talented but no class.

Having seen or read about some of Portugals performance over last year or two i was surprised how brightly they started the match. They soon returned to their usual type of toothless slow tempo underachieving football though. Well done Iceland

It does annoy me a bit though when so many pundits and commentators continue to say Portugal only have Ronaldo and no other talent whatsoever so wont be winning any tournament. Portuguese side has quite a few decent standard footballers incl midfielders Moutinho & Wiliam Carvalho (who was sat on the bench all night? - a 24yr old CMid genuinely linked to ManU and Arsenal), and their centre back partnership. Certainly a good enough spine of the team that they shouldn't consistently be just scraping into tournaments then playing rubbish & getting knocked out in the group stages

Ronaldo whining like a huffy bitch in the interview I'm sure makes it all the sweeter for the Iceland defenders.

He was good to watch in his United days. Him, Rooney and Tevez counter attacking was great football, proper team work, but since his ego took over he's become boring. He just shoots on site, and most shots do nothing.

He's one of the greatest goal scorers, but i don't think he is one of the best FOOTBALLERS. I can name plenty of players that have played the game better than him.

And some people wonder why people don't like him. He does a lot for charity, but outside of that he is a complete ass.

So he is saying Iceland got a draw without trying while he could only get a draw whilst trying is butt off? Or have did that lose something in the translation?

Very disappointed in Ronaldo. Not shaking hands with the iceland players is childish. Not their fault that he's failed to deliver for his country. Just wondering when was the last time he actually had a good game for Portugal?

Best result of the tournament so far it could have only been bettered by Iceland sneaking another goal to win it.

Not if you're a man. They don't have family surnames in Iceland. Instead, they take the father's first name then add -son for male children or -dottir for females. So a family of 4 ( father, mother, son & daughter ) will have 4 different surnames as wives don't take their husband's surname
