Ronaldo is never going to have a Euros trophy in his massive trophy cabinet

It might be my Welsh underdog instincts kicking in, but am rather chuffed by that. Well played Iceland!

I think Portugal had a decent first half too but they were just so pedestrian chasing that winner.

I still think Iceland will still struggle to get out of the group.

Could you class Iceland as underdogs against an average Portugal side

Despite things livening up a little at the end, this was generally a boring game. Alan Shearer picked up on Portugal's slow, sloppy, possession football at half time. Ronaldo not in the game at all.

It's not just Van Gaal doing it now. This tripe possession style of play is becoming a huge problem in the game right now and the media will pick up on it soon. Gotta give credit to Iceland though... great goal.

Fantastic, well done Iceland.

Here's a preview of Cristiano Ronaldo's post match interview: https://youtu.be/15joCwPYYk8?t=3s
The shrek comment in that video is hilarious!

Portugal got what they deserved there and a point was generous. Their sense of entitlement makes me sick.

Ronaldo the golden child of the side can be the biggest hindrance to the others as well as the inspiration.

Iceland in comparison are hanging on in there the countrys population is less than my city so its no surprise they carry a few donkeys in the team. Nevertheless well done to them.

Were they ever not underdogs?

This is an island nation we're talking about here, albeit more like a hill

I don't think it was that big a shock Portugal tend to underperform in finals

When was the last time Ronaldo was good to watch ? does he do anything but shoot these days ? Since he left United he has got more and more boring to watch, he just doesn't do anything.

It seems to be more the case in international football than in club football. The top sides in Europe tend to have an element of direct play in their attack too. Barcelona aren't really a tiki taka team anymore. In fairness, it's difficult to not play possession football when the other team have everyone back. But too many of these teams aren't good enough at actually exploiting little openings that they get.

Cristiano Ronaldo from direct free-kick in major tournaments (World Cup + Euro):

Taken: 34
Scored: 0
Ronaldo might be the worst free-kick taker in history when you look at the number of failures.

If Ronaldo isn't on song, Portugal have a serious problem - and I think this weighs heavily on Ronaldo as well.

Ronaldo has free kick envy and seeing Gareth Bale stick his big one in on Saturday only makes it worse. Bale this young adonis from Wales can get it up and in the goal without thinking twice.

Bale may have the pressures ahead of him but I know who I prefer.
