Cyanogen was better than Oxygen OS IMO. How can you assume people haven't used one, or even owned one?
None of the phones are terrible by any means, and nobody has said so, and the prices have always been pretty good but the first phone was by far the best. |

It's called an opinion Wash and everyone has one. We just share discussion and you tend to find a trend from the comments others make.
The question in this thread was more about if the VF phone could complete with the OP3? Clearly you are a fan so will think so, others have expressed different opinions. Just because you don't like them, doesn't mean that they are wrong. I think Jon is right though about how low key the VF phone is. I thinkthat VF have made a mistake going to market with this phone on the same day as the OP3 as that is going to always get the main focus of attention. |

Actually, I'm not "a fan" of any phone manufacturer, I usually change them every time I upgrade. I am a fan of the OnePlus Two, as I was a fan of the Moto G (2013) last time.
As for the phone from Actel, it looks average for a high price point. There are better phones for that price. |

How much is the generic Alcatel version?
And what phones would you suggest are better for £300 (and, as I said, you can presume there will be promotions on this very soon in addition to the free VR headset)? |

I'd expect the price to drop. The Smart Ultra 6 wasn't always £100.
It comes with a free Vodafone VR headset too, which I forgot to mention above. No idea what that retails for (or what it looks like - I hope it's not just Google Cardboard!) https://www.engadget.com/2016/06/14/...rt-platinum-7/ If that is actually the headset in the photo in that article. |

The photos showing the huge queues outside the various pop-up locations in Europe suggest a large number of OnePlus fans, but once they all buy (which I expect they all will have done by now), I wonder how quickly sales tail off?
Vodafone will be able to push this phone, and reduce the price as necessary, for many months. The Smart Ultra 6 is now just £99. I wonder how long until the Platinum 7 is down to £200 or £250? The Alcatel Idol 4S (which seems to be bundled with a VR headset too) is selling for between £350 and £420. Whilst I'm tempted, I already have a Sony Z5C and a Lumia 930 (which absolutely runs rings around the Sonys Camera). Don't need another phone. |

I'd expect a price cut when the VR headset is no longer bundled, but I can't obviously say when that might be. It could be dependent on the time to shift stock, and Vodafone likely won't give sales figures for some time - if at all.
I have no idea how many people buy network branded phones these days. I did see someone with an EE Rook the other day, which was a bit of a surprise to me. I thought I was probably the only person to have one! The VR headset looks okay, but even the 'proper' ones can be found on Amazon for £15-20 so I am not sure the real value, or if someone wanting a cheap phone will be bothered about VR. I'm with Vodafone this evening to get my device and have a play, so I'll no doubt ask all of these questions. Don't expect me to get answers though! |

The 652 is a very capable chip and the specs, apart from one, do look good. The killer for me though is the battery size. With the current tech I just couldn't live with a 3Ah battery. So that is the OP3 out as well - the OP1 had poor battery life and OP2 was so bad I got through more than two full cycles some day and both of these had bigger batteries. I think I will wait and see if the Galaxy A9 gets a proper international release (the pro has a 5Ah battery) before deciding on my next device.

If you can reduce heat and improve power consumption generally, 3,000mAh isn't too bad. My Huawei P9 outperforms my Nexus 6P despite a smaller battery, and that's because of better power management as well as the smaller/lower resolution display.
I will of course be watching closely to see how the battery performs, and I don't know what level of power management there will be, beyond Doze (which of course is beneficial most to non power-users, who would get better battery life anyway). With fast charging, I must admit that I am less worried about battery life as I was, because battery anxiety issues means I usually carry a portable power bank. And as such, I can keep the phone topped up quite easily, and I value speed of charging as higher than overall battery size. |

The phone is really nice. As is another thing I can't talk about just yet!

No recent posts about this phone? I got mine the other day on contract upgrade and I have to say I am delighted with it.
No longer comes with the VR headset, though.

I just got another one yesterday to try out the new Vodafone Wallet service with PayPal. Still waiting on Vodafone to sort out adding a card and giving me my Wallet PIN, but it really is a nice phone.
Those speakers are particularly great. I do hope that TCL (Alcatel) is now moving towards making high-end phones, as it could easily compete with the other players if it wants to. Better camera, Snapdragon 820/821, Cat 9-12 LTE, QHD screen, stereo speakers etc. |
