Used to use that website as my main source but now its off putting. Its like a dogs dinner, you don't know where anything is anymore, its all over the place and confusing at times. used to be much simpler, where the spoilers were on the top then had the soap news on the bottom.

Who remembers getting those detailed spoilers every tuesday, and the episode description that was shown weeks in advance.

Who remembers this.

look at around 1.10

Completely agree, DS as a whole is a shambles. This time last year it was perfect. But according to TPTB they've had very positive feedback. Wake up DS listen to your users

It's not just shoddy, it's dumbed down journalism. Seems to be aimed at the lowest common denominator.

The list articles are particularly awful, with their random numbers...

"8 things about..."
"11 things about..."

I really dislike the new lay out, why can't we get given the option like when they first started the new site.

I must admit I do enjoy most of the list articles

They have improved the site since it first got redesigned when it was a mess with lots of random white space, stupidly huge photos, broken links etc, but it is still not brilliant.
When viewing on a 13" laptop, on the individual soaps pages, you will only get to see two article titles on the screen at one time. Why they still need fairly large photos just on the titles I don't know, make the photos a bit smaller and they can fit more in without it looking cramped.

Also on the main pages, you find yourself seeing the same titles multiple times as you may see it first in the 'Must Read' column, then again in the 'Latest News' column, then sometimes a third time in the other column (Most Shared on many pages, or Spoilers on the Soaps page).

I understand what they are trying to do, but when scrolling down you don't know where to look as there is so much at once, why not have two columns, one wider column with main articles, then a smaller column with links.

I just spent 10 min on it and its a totally confusing mess, are the spoilers gone now, replaced by news stories? ....

No, i was getting confused, they are all mixed up, some are titled "Episode 5306 | Airs Friday" Some aren't, And on the page i can't navigate to the next episode..! "NEXT ARTICLE Hollyoaks:"

Try again next year, maybe it will be fixed...

I just scroll down looking only at the right hand column (latest news) because the other two are filters from it.

To be honest there's no point griping about it because they won't take any notice. It won't change until they decide to 'improve' it again. Usually when there's a managerial change, normally every couple of years.

Glad you agree, sir.

It's almost like they don't want people to read their website...

Could this all be part of a secret conspiracy by DS moderators to make us leave the forum?

A bit like Donald Trump's hair to be honest, if I could offer a metaphor, LM.

Yes it's rubbish now. It's like looking at a teenage magazine. Guess they haven't heard the saying ''if it ain't broke...''

I agree with all of this. The actual soaps page isn't so bad now they've got the bar at the top where you can click on your preferred soap to see all the news relating to it, but the spoilers page is ridiculous. Sometimes, I don't know whether I'm coming or going on that page!

There are three things that still continue to irritate me on the site as a whole though (well, two, but the third is a personal preference):

- The list articles. I really don't care about '8 times such and such blew our minds' and so on.
- Articles based on Tweets from random people saying what they thought about a twist in tonight's episode of EE.
- The endless over-promotion of Game of Thrones. There seems to be a GoT article a day on here, it seems. (That's the personal preference, as I must be the only person in the world who thinks GoT is overrated.)

It seems to have become really dumbed down and like something you'd expect on a trashy gossip magazine website, like Heat.

The "people upstairs" can't seem to decide what kind of website they want this to be. Is it a celebrity news site? Is it a buzzfeed rip off? Is it a TV news thing?

I miss the old layout. It was so clean and easy to navigate. I'm just so confused by this layout, I don't bother looking at the rest of the site anymore - the only section that brings me here is this Soaps subforum. When I have the energy to deal with it I might go to the EE spoilers section, but when I get there I just feel like I'm in one of those really nasty stores where everything is everywhere and nothing has a place, like an unkept charity shop or Primark on a Saturday. That can be said for the entire site too. Also, why isn't there a notification thing to tell you when someone quoted your post? Are we still stuck in the 90s/early 00s? Because forums nowadays have sorted out this issue.

Brilliant metaphor.

I honestly cannot find anything on DS now, I'm not just moaning, I really can't, and the quality is really dumbed down - I've given up. I miss the comments as well. The old site was cracking, it was really informative and well laid out. I do miss it.

I guess we just have to accept that the Publisher wanted a very different site - like a very trashy soap mag, all exclamation marks and heavy sell. Amazed how bad the design is though.
