No more soaps on CBS Drama
Knots Landing is finishing it's repeat run on CBS Drama on July 12th and it's slots will be taken over by Matlock and The High Chapparal.
This will be the first time in years (possibly since the channel launched) that there hasn't been at least one soap on it's schedules. Are there any soaps that you'd like to see them air that they haven't shown already? Or would you like them to start rerunning Dynasty, Falcon Crest and Dallas from the start again? I'd like to see them give Melrose Place a full run, showing all seven seasons. In recent years, when channels have repeated it they've only aired the first three seasons for some reason. While it was really short-lived, I would like to see Central Park West get an airing. If only to see it on decent TV quality rather than the ropey VHS versions I found online. Pasadena would be a treat for viewers too. It only ran for 13 episodes but it was excellent and I don't think it ever aired in the UK. |

Can't disagree with this the man was a legend, Larry Hagman played him to perfection there will never be another one like him, probably the greatest soap character of all time.

Savannah. I would love for a UK audience to discover this nice little hidden gem.

I'd be happy if they just finish showing what they start.
Judging Amy - always stops at S2 BH90210 - always stops at S2 They assure viewers via emails that they will show the entire run, then cite lack of interest. |

I've watched the entire Judging Amy series on CBS Drama previously.
Some of the old Aussie soaps would be good or even Shortland Street from NZ. |

Of the Aussie shows, while it's not technically a "soap", I think that The Secret Life of Us would be in fitting with the channel's previous serial drama output. |

99.99% it was CBS Drama, we don't have Sky so it was FreeSat. Evenings around 9 p.m.
Edited to add it was around 4/5 years ago. |

Did CBS Drama ever show The Practice Seasons 6-8? I gave up waiting for it in the end.
Watched season 1 and thought Savannah was a good attempt to recreate the soaps of the 80s. Season 2 wasn't properly networked and I only realised of its existence after the fact. So will look for it online. Seeing as Savannah aired in the late 1990s, I think it was a little before it's time. Serial television had gone out of fashion in the USA. However, had Savannah aired when serials came back into fashion with Desperate Housewives and Lost, could it of been a success? |

Savannah was cancelled because according to the head of The WB (where it aired) "serial dramas don't repeat well, making the investment too expensive". It wasn't a rating flop apparently.
While that is technically true, The WB would premiere Dawson's Creek two years later which was another serial primetime soap drama. So i wonder if there was more to the cancellation than what we really know. The cast and crew must of got some hint about the show coming to an end because the season 2 finale does essentially serve as a wrap up. Despite the show's short run, it did kick off the career of soap actress Jamie Lunar, who would go on to do Melrose Place and All My Children. |

It's never gotten a DVD release but it's available to watch online. Season one is pretty good but season two is when things start to fall apart. It aired in primetime, late night and daytime in the UTV region so my recollections of it were all over the place until I rewatched it online.
I thought it just ended on that 'TRAVIS'!! cliffhanger so I assumed when no second season was shown the whole thing had been some wild dream Peyton was having ![]() I'm off today so I'm going to find season two online and watch. Although I might actually watch the whole thing from the start. I actually think Savannah was better than Desperate Housewives - at least the later seasons anyway. It did come before its time. |

Although neither shows were alike to say one was better than each other That's like saying Gossip Girl was better than Dallas |
