It's an anthem about fighting tyranny and foreign invaders, not just the English (or British considering that by the time it was written in 1792 the United Kingdom had already existed for 85 years).

Awful first half, particularly from the French.
When I thought the Albanian defence wouldn't be quite as resolute as they were against the Swiss, I assumed the French would attack them with rather more pace and intensity than the Swiss.
Instead we've just seen another instance of possession without purpose - and I don't think the Albanian defenders have been overly troubled.

Very lacklustre half from France. They brought two different starters in to play the wings but neither of them seems to actually want to have a run at their man. Martial has been terrible, certainly worse than Sterling was for England. I'm sure Batdude will be along to castigate his performance to high heavens.
