It's always the same. Every time I see a summer dress I like it's a strappy sun dress, rather than one with fuller, short sleeves. I find it really annoying and it means having to wear a little bolero cardigan to protect my shoulders.

I suppose it's a cost thing, but I wish clothes shops and supermarkets would have dresses in a couple of different styles. Often the material is lovely but the cut and design isn't quite right.

Anyone else have any similar gripes re clothes styles or is it just me being a 'moaning Minnie'?

I agree Anastasia. I'm impressed with H & M this year, because they have a great selection of dresses, not just sleeveless, but some shirt style and lovely 60's inspired shift dresses with half length sleeves. Classic looking and more flattering.

If you're prepared to shop online, these two websites have a selection of dresses with sleeves:-

Joe Brown

Roman Originals

I can't testify to the quality of these dresses as I've never bought from either website, although I have browsed many times!

I too agree with the OP. As well as having to worry about bingo wings / sunburned shoulders, you have to faff around with bra straps or, as the OP said, wear a bolero cardigan.

I have bought some from Joe Browns, and I've found the quality varies from dress to dress, as does the sizing! Don't be afraid to order several in each size to make sure. They seem to run big on me and I'm a size 12/14 and 34E - they're always MASSIVE on the bust!

I don't like wearing sleeveless dresses because I lost a lot of weight over the past year or two and don't look the way my arms look.

Even as thin as I am, given my age, I almost have the bat wing thing going on.

I like three-quarter length sleeves. I've always thought that they look elegant, especially when worn with an interesting bracelet or bangles.
