No not everyone wants England to win, I see a glee in every defeat from some as they whinge and moan and berate every player, the manager and the tactics. Excuses are made for wins, every defeat is amplified. Not everyone of course, many are genuinely behind the team but dont tell me there aren't those who just find fault in every single thing.

England aren't world beaters but they are top of the group in a tournament where almost every game has been nip and tuck. They dropped points in the last seconds on Saturday and gained points by playing to the death today. The manger is encouraging the team to attack and he isn't afraid to make changes.

Take it for what it is so far and have the post mortars afterwards eh?

i really hope not he is not the same kane we see week in week out at tottenham at present, granted he is excellent when hes on fire but hodgson would be foolish to start him again hes had 1 shot off target in 135 minutes of football and no touches in the opposition box, he looks worn out. STurridge should still be number one choice in my opinion I think he is our most gifted player.

How could Wales expect to win when the best player in the world Bales was starved of the ball . They spent too much time defending . I haven't got too much confidence in the English defence and Wales looked most threatening the few time that they attacked with Bales .
Wales should play an all out attacking game against Russia if they want to win .

Thats that then, Wales should have cloned Gareth Bale so 11 of him were playing

We're playing better now than we have for years, and it is a very young squad that will get better. We're not world beaters, but moaning about how we won today does my head in. Who has had an easy game in this tournament?

I think Kane has looked a little tired, and he did the last few games of the season. He also plays in a different formation at Spurs, and that seems to suit him better.

I would keep Vardy and Sturridge in now to maintain that momentum, and Kane would be very useful to bring on later.

With you on Sturridge, I'm certain if it wasn't for his fragility he'd have been England's established starting striker by now.

And England had by far the most possession today, and won, so the Leicester comparison is irrelevant.

Its irrelevant to you because you choose to miss the point that many of us are saying, we didnt dominate Wales, just the possession. How many shots did we have on target?

So what do you actually want?? England won the game AND had the most possession, isn't that enough at this stage?

I think you are right about Kane. I suspect Kane gave his all for Spurs last season and he has nothing left in the tank. As for Sturridge, well I have begun to bore myself with saying if he is fit he should be the first name on the team sheet. Vardy clearly has the golden touch this season, he cannot stop scoring, despite many people saying he can only succeed in a team set up for him specifically such as Leicester. Only a fool would not pick a striker in such magical form.

Anyhow, I'm delighted with the England win, been waiting for one in a tournament for far too long ...

We are playing alright, you can't beat a late winner go on Sturridge lad

Tough for the Welsh it always is when you concede so late in a game.

Truth is though I can't see England winning against a really good side.

Just a comment on Sterling, he's had 1 decent half and 2 pretty bad ones, I expect him to be benched for Slovakia.

100% in qualifying - a first game draw, and coming from behind to beat the Welsh (who parked the bus)
That'll do for me -so far

Since when does that dictate domination? We had 20 shots compared to 8. We had 5 on target compared to 2. We had 69% possession, and 9 corners compared to 3. We also won. I'd call that a pretty dominant performance.

Good to have a critical reflection on Sterling from someone whose views about him are respected.

What's with the "Ramsey > Alli" thing? Ramsey's 25 whilst Alli has just turned 20. Alli is class and will evolve into a better player than Ramsey. He'll learn from international football soon enough as part of his football education - not sure he's playing in his best position with England either.

I think fatigue is playing a part with the Spurs players too - the energy Poch demanded week in week out has had an effect over recent games.

And with Albania and Ukraine on 0 points after two games, I make it that England are through already - what a difference a goal makes!

I hope Roy drops Sterling and Lallana for the next game as we looked a lot better when we were playing with two strikers

Thats true. Very refreshing to see a Man Utd fan with that viewpoint given the champions league final of 99. Most will argue it's playing to the whistle and showing determination but as you say it's really just luck. That's why the Liverpool final come back win will always be the greater achievement.
