With this happening soon. This is the last we have seen of Eileen Derbyshire in Coronation Street. Sad really. No proper exit for Emily.

If there's any truth in Emily not returning (which I hope that there isn't) then I'd like to see No.3. freed up for a family rather than held onto by Norris.

Norris really should live in the other flat above the Kabin, next door to Rita. Having him rattling around at No.3. is a waste of an important house.

It's only a temporary arrangement.. Just a little storyline probably because Blackburn couldn't think of anything else to fill his last days. The press release from ITV still has Blackburn as producer for the 1st July episode and this airs before that.

Eileen Derbyshire is still listed as returning at a date to be announced.

Unfortunately he will be credited until at least the last week of August

Poor Kirk regarding the split from Beth only being temporary, he is so unlucky to have her.

BIB Thanks for that, I shall look forward to watching Corrie post-Blackburn. Hopefully it will improve as did Emmerdale after his hands were removed from the programme.

Norris and Kirky sharing a house. Someone's decided this will make some great opportunities for some classic Corrie comedy.

Remember when Les and Kirk used to wind up Norris by calling him 'Doris'?

Even that seems like sublime and subtle comedy compared to what Corrie churns out these days

It probably could have been good had it involved anyone else at all other than KareInTheKommunityKirk.

Hard to say.

I know I'm not alone in thinking that Emily's 'Peru trip' felt like a way of giving the character something of an exit to avoid her having to be quickly written out due to ill health further down the line.

We've seen this many times before with the likes of Ena Sharples, Annie Walker and more recently Blanche and Deirdre where the character is written out for an indefinite length of time with the view of them returning but they never actually do. In the cases of Blanche and Deirdre, both actresses tragically passed away very soon after their characters were given a hasty screen departure.

I certainly had a feeling that there was a degree of 'damage limitation' with Eileen Derbyshire's break from the show. Given how little Emily appears in episodes anyway, there didn't seem much need in sending Emily off on an unbelievable jaunt unless Eileen was in poor health. If all she wanted was an extended break (and after 55 years who can blame her?) then Emily's absence could easily have been explained without much fuss. Peru seemed like a way of writing her out permanently should Eileen Derbyshire be unable to return.

I feel bad for speculating on this because Eileen is the most private of all Corrie's cast. I'm sure Kym Marsh will be available for comment.

Emily should be back on screen by now.

The actress only took a six month break and left on-screen at New Year. They film the Christmas/New Year episodes slightly further in advance than normal. She would've finished filming some time in October and returned in April for a return last month as per the usual six weeks ahead schedule.

Either she's not returning or the actress has extended her break.

Les was horrible when he used to call Hayley - Harold.

Can't wait to see what high-jinks and fun Corrie have with Norris and Kirk living under the same roof!

Emily was having at least a six month break. The exact time wasn't specified.
