He wasn't a good manager in Brazil He just got lucky today. LOST 2-1 LOST 0-1 LOST 1-3 LOST 1-3 DREW 1-1 DREW 0-0 WON 1-0 DREW 0-0 (1-0 AET) DREW 2-2 (3-2 AET) DREW 1-1 (Lost Pens) That had four straight defeats, six without a win and one win in normal time in ten matches with the football largely dire and Sir Bobby is looked upon as the best manager that we have had and the players of that time seem to forget those results very easily. Two of our three world cup games and these two matches have been terrific. If you think this is bad, I am not sure what you made of Capello or most previous major tournaments. |

I think a five year old child could have made those substitutions today
Sterling is not playing well, lets bring on Vardy Kane is not playing well, lets bring on Sturridge Lallana is not playing well, lets bring on Rashford I cant imagine what he would have done if he did not have these players avaliable Maybe bring on Milner, like he always had to do |

He would have chosen from the other players he'd called up. I think a five year old child would understand that much.

The balls to make the calls or the skills to pay the bills?

That's not how anything works ever. Again like in the other thread, if one player isn't in the team a different one would be, rather than a big blank space. It's not a hard concept to grasp. |

I can see why Sterling started again. He does make the pitch much bigger staying down the wing and his presence does pull defenders closer to him, he is still perceived to be very quick although he seems to have lost some pace to me. I see it a lot for Arsenal with Walcott still marked much closer than other players even though there is very little end product.
He is not playing well though and the fee paid for him looks a bit silly. But if we want to play in a similar style with Townsend left behind and who is a different player anyway there is nobody else in the entire squad like him. Vardy would probably be the next best option for pace down the wing. |

Are we really going down the route of some alternative reality? ... What if Roy had been called Frank?
Too much negativity in this thread from certain quarters. Well done Frank, well done the lads. |

Thankfully he finally canme to his senses with the Kane corner situation.
The vardy sub was a no brainer, the rashford one was a fairly bold move though so in short I think he does have the balls. Personally yes sturridge got the winner but I don't think he played well at all, hopefully wilshere will start Monday night |

Can Roy really win? - no-body wanted Rooney to play and now most people think he has been our best player.
The Kane taking corners thing was strange simply because he is a goal scorer compared to others who could take one. I can only presume he took the best ones in training...or did Hodgson think Kane had less chance of knocking one in than others? Even today with the subs some were saying "well its about time" which is fair enough but others managers would be patted on the back for the changes made. I guess Vardy and Sturridge will start now and quite fairly having scored but you know if they have a bad game there will be fingers pointed. As for Sterling - well managers like pace don't they which is why he plays...no-one else in the squad has it really in terms of playing out wide. (And I am not sure Hodgson is a big fan of Vardy's although should be tonight!) I hit the nail on the head in the opening TBH. And pace means nothing if there is no end product, headless chickens? We have seen many. Sturridge and Vardy need to start the next game, they are both pure quality and both on fire end of. They both played a hand in each goal and it was NOT EASY to score against that WALL OF WELSH PLAYERS.No offence to Harry Kane whatsoever, he is a quality striker but he is showing the classic hallmarks of a striker hitting a "goal drought" and now is not the time or the place to be playing him. Well done Roy. |

You get lucky with qualifying groups. If you had Wales group you would struggle to qualify.
When its all over people can look back and judge whether it was a success or not but looking for things to complain about after a victory sums up everything thats wrong with supporting England. |

Roy owes a big thanks to Sturridge. He would off been pilloried if we drew again.

If it had been 7-0 to England the forum would be full of people complaining about the poor standard of opposition or the blue sleeves on the shirt or something else. Heaven forbid that a win is enjoyed. |

I fond it funny that on Saturday its only the result that matters and that England dropped points even if it was in the last minute after a good performance yet by yesterday its "lucky" to win in the last minute and its all about the performance which apparently wasn't good enough!!

It's it everyone who thinks like this Stilton. I'd say it's the minority. Plenty of Football fans are pretty happy with our first two games. It's a lot better, performance and results wise than in the last decade or so.
