I was trying to search the music section to find a discussion on novelty songs but the function did not sit well with this tablet and so I open a new thread.
As you see from the above, Streetband (Members:Chaulky , John Gifford, Mick Pearl, Paul Young, Roger Kelly) were around late seventies, Young being in Q-Tips also before his solo career, they had this hit called Toast which came into my life again today for whatever reason has inspired a discussion on novelties aka one-hit wonders.
How was Toast for you? It had some admirers...

And from Dangerous Minds...
That label Toast was on (Logo?) I think also spawned Car 67 which is a big favourite of mine and if I remember correctly, I had some Tourists singles on that label too.
Please add your own favourite novelty songs to this venture, I am passionate about this section of pop culture and have the thirst for knowledge.

“This was beat poetry at a level never seen in the bars of San Francisco, and some (slightly mad) people have claimed this was THE start of rap music.
One hit wonders, Streetband were briefly successful with ‘Toast’, but never gained any real commercial fame, despite releasing two albums and having almost constant airplay on Capital Radio. Their records however are quite easy listening and make good background music if you are working on the computer, playing PartyCasino.it or tidying up around the house.”

“In what is beyond the shadow of a doubt UK pop crooner Paul Young’s finest moment I have somehow found the mythical and difficult to obtain Dangerous Minds toaster post. I guess this was a top 20 hit in Blighty back in ‘78. Fine topic for a tune, really. Any song wherein actual toast is used as an instrument is just fine by me. Every time you go away you take a piece of toast with you.”
