I loved this such a classic! My favourite part is when Gail tries to collect up the money at the end and Audrey snatches it right back off her!

Also remember that line, "He even took the flight socks money" haha oh Gail

Dumb plot, especially with Gail suddenly falling for Lewis despite hating him for years.

That is typical of Gail though and what she's like with any bloke who even smiles at her!

A terrible plot that chipped away at the foundations of some of Corrie's strongest characters, especially Gail and Deirdre.

Still doesn't excuse it for being crap and badly written. She knew that Lewis was a con artist who conned the local bookies and left her mother heartbroken for two years. During Lewis' reconciliation with Audrey Gail never had a good word to say about him and didn't trust him. Yet the minute he dumped Audrey Gail was all lovey dovey and remortgaged the house to run off with him.

Blackburn is accused of ruining Gail, yet this nonsense occurred during Phil Collinson's tenure.

Plus her family came across quite spiteful. She has been humiliated and her money lost (which was Kylie's doing) but she gets kicked down further and Audrey actually takes the money that was stolen from Gail!

Agreed. Both acted in a way that would have been unthinkable for either even a few years earlier.

As dumb as it was for her to be such an easy pushover after basically calling him public enemy no. 1 for ages, it was a pretty good stitch up. Lewis did that video with a certain panache, he gets points for that.

I personally loved the Lewis plotline but it was at the detriment of Gail's character and personality as it may have been the start of her turning into a simpleton.

She also betrayed her mother by sneaking around with her ex-boyfriend even though she knew what type of person he was.

The Lewis plotline had some gems though including the scene in the bookies where Deirdre got found out by the other Barlows of her daliance with Lewis as it was caught on the CCTV, the whole "Manchester tart" scene at the Platt's followed by Deirdre's "Ken, do something" and of course 'that' video that Lewis made as a final pay off.

Pure plot driven nonsense that had Gail act completely out of character. Gail was always the level headed one out of her, Audrey and Alma but those days seem to have been long forgotten.
