The players and fans showing the Euros is far more important than the CL.

It doesn't matter what type of match you saw him in, just the mere fact that you can say you saw such a great player play live in the flesh is something to be very proud of.
You are so right, batdude. Despite seeing Eusébio numerous times live on television I would have given anything to have seen him for real. For me he was the giant of European football, although George Best became - and remains - my untouchable favourite.

Messi and Ronaldo are the two best players that have ever lived. The game now is well ahead of the 60s, 70s and 80s.
lmao why would they be better than players from past generations? i certainly do not agree with you. Football is a simple game, how much can it have possibly changed? What is the ball square shaped now? Lol What has technology done to improve skill level? Nothing. THe players of today might be a bit fitter and a fraction quicker but certainly not as skilful. Back in the day All maradona had for enjoyment and fun was a round ball and some mates to have a kickabout, there was no internet, smartfones, playstations or all these other modern day distractions. Still not seen a striker hit a ball like THAT Van BASTEN goal. Probably never will again.

Being in this Portugal side should not prevent Ronaldi playing from doing his stuff when he has the ball. Sadly, time and time again he looks a very average player, hitting walls in free kicks, shots going all over the shop, chances he'd take with eyes shut at club level being fluffed. He's done this time and again at International tournament level throuout his entire career. He has been a mega flop at this level and you cannot make pathetic excuses for him.

One year Ronaldo was missing WC qualfication matches due to his injuries, and Brazil were seriously struggling to qualify. In desperation they sent out a patched up Ronaldo to try and save them, he did just that.
Look at how terrible they were in the 98 WC final when a drugged up Ronaldo was disgracefully sent out to play. They were clueless without him.

Another modern great was Zidane.
Did it at every level.
is "Ronaldi" plural for Ronaldo? I know theres been a few Ronaldi over ther years.

The UTD fans giving him a standing ovation after he scored a brilliant 3 goals lives in my memory..
Fat Ron never played for Real.
If you can't get something that simple correct then your memory of Fat Ronaldo might be just a little bit suspect and you are looking at him through rose-tinted specs.

Sports science has kept them in tip top shape, a long way from the 60s, 70s and 80s where they would be drinking pints or smoking. They are stronger, faster, fitter and have more stamina. They'd run the teams from the 60s-80s into the ground.

The bottom line is the world cup and euros are the highest level of football, both messi and ronaldo appear average time and time again on the international stage.

Yes, I would have loved to have seen some of the past greats live and in the flesh, no matter what type of match it was!

Heck I saw one of my all time favourite players, Baresi play in a charity match a few years ago, and by that stage of course he was well past his best, but just saying that I saw him to me is just great, as it is very different from just watching them on TV.

Nobody could accuse you of being an anorak.

OI!

Until recently, I always thought Blue Is The Colour was the Chelsea song for the FA Cup final against Leeds. It was in fact the song for the league Cup final against Stoke the following year.
I'd never heard of League Cup songs.

DOnt agree with you an ageing Muhhamed Ali beat a young powerful George Foreman by knockout. 20 years later an ageing George Foreman took a young Evander Holyfield the distance. The only thing thats changd is they are slightly fitter. Players still drink and smoke you joker, players were more skilful before. TEchnology also creates distractions from training.

We are not talking about track and field speed only sports were talking about football.

Messi had a good/ very good World Cup in 2014.
He's one of my alltime favs and I was willing him to a bit further and have that truly great WC, but he never quite did that. It would be very harsh to say he didn't perform very well.

Any fighter can get lucky in boxing with a punch. The players now are faster, fitter, stronger, have more stamina and doing these skills at great speed like Messi and Ronaldo. They'd crush the older, slower and less fit teams of the 60s-80s.

rofl this is like talking to a bot you pretty much repeated your last post word for word and now you are claiming Ali got lucky in that fight....Hilarious. Maradona had more skill than Messi and Ronaldo put together

He will never be mentioned in the same breath as Maradona when people talk about the world cups of years gone by.Messi had amazing players with him too.

Watch the Chase and see the very bright chasers forget some simple questions and facts they would never normally forget.
I just posted off the top of my head something I remembered seeing with Ronaldo, then simply forgot he played for Madrid as well as Barca.
Are you telling me you never forget anything simple?

Maradona is almost a God like figure in Argentina, so no matter what Messi does he'll never be reveared the way Maradona is.

What is wrong with staying at one club, the player with the most high level trophies in history stayed at one club.

That one club though has world class players in every position. At least portuguese ronaldo had success at united aswell. Messi is scared to leave barca.
