The players and fans showing the Euros is far more important than the CL. |

So no player from a minority country can ever be truly great just because of where they were born - no matter how good they are or what they achieve with their clubs?
Do you realise how daft that is? |

You always see Spanish defences concede to players who used to play for their district, I'm with shane.

If I was on Roger Federer's team I reckon we'd win a few rounds on the doubles at Wimbledon. I used to be pretty good at badminton so it's close enough.

You'd probably do alright in the Brazil 1970 side as well then. They were really good. Which means Pele must be shite.

Pele back for third game, kicked to bits again with no action taken by the ref and limps round the pitch. No subs allowed and Brazil are knocked out. Pele says he'll never play in another WC 70 WC. Brazil play some of the most memorable football ever seen in one of the all time classic tournaments. Pele is the star of the show and they of course go on to win it. 74 WC - Pele retired, they are made to look third rate by Holland, to the point where they were reduced to trying to hack down the Dutch to try and stop them. See, no Pele, no great Brazil. |

I feel the collective forum IQ dropping with every post that a certain poster is making.

You weren't being asked to remember it against the clock for money. If it 'lives long in the memory' and you are using it as a basis of an argument then it might help if you could actually remember it. Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid is breaking every scoring record going, did Fat Ronaldo do that?
As for scoring records at RM. So flipping what! He's in a top team in a league where 6-0 scorelinrs against weak teams are common place. Ronaldo scored lots of goals too. C Ron is now 31, fat Ron was in serious decline years before that age due to his injuries. Take into account football all levels fat Ron's achievements pee all over C Ron's! An unfit fat Ron was better at this level than 'C Ron. |

I was pointing out that even the greatest era of Brazilian football relied massively on one player doing his stuff. |

I was not thinking against the clock but I was posting off the top of my head and simply had a complete blank moment. If you want to keep bringing up an honest dumb mistake in order to score points, then go ahead.

You don't score the vast quantity of goals in such a short period of time, and have the goals to game ratio that he does if you are just a mere average player.

1982 side wasn't bad.
However, I was referring to the Pele era and just after to show just how big a difference he made to them. Won in 58 & 62 with Pele. Struggled in 66 due to him being hacked to pieces. Won in 70. Third rate in 74 without him. |

Thats just simply not true. Not true at all. You dont like Ronaldo , we get it, but you just look silly when you try to demonstrate that he is not at the very top level of the game and has been for a decade.

We can't just compare them like that. Each major competition has it's own hype and it's own buzz/style to it (including FA Cup though perhaps to a lesser extent). They are all entertaining in different ways.
