So if you've seen some of my posts before, you may know that I may have a slight craving for a 4:3 screen.

I've got a 4:3 TV, 4:3 monitor and now I'm after a 4:3 Smartphone.

So, the vast majority of phones come in a 16:9 ratio, but that just feels too tall and skinny for me. Turn it into landscape and there is just no vertical space at all. The 4:3 shape just works better for me. Better for reading, better for web browsing better for everything...

And lets be honest, portrait photos and videos taken on a 16:9 phone just look terrible..
I have looked for 4:3 models in the past, and I basically found a couple of older models which weren't very successful and some tiny low-spec Samsung phone.

Not too long ago I had a look at Smartphones in the Argos Catalogue but don't remember seeing any 4:3 ones.

So, does anyone know if a 4:3 Smartphone has been released lately?

If not I may be willing to compromise with a 3:2 screen instead.

Old review of Samsung Galaxy Mini back from 2011: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVomy_hEjpM

Looks like a great little phone though outdated now of course apps would probably not work very well now and new apps it would either struggle to run or not be compatible.

LG Vu 3 is the only remotely modern option you'll find at 4:3

It was never sold in Europe though. You'll probably have to get a used / refurbished one from Korea.

Older iPhones were 3:2 of course.

No such modern phones exist. QED.

End of thread. Let's not have a repeat of why you must have a 4:3 monitor and the saga over which one you wanted to choose

Point is though I will only spend about 5% of the time watching video the rest of the time I'll be reading, texting, emailing, tweeting, googleing etc you know the stuff you really use a phone for. I'm not bothered by some black bands anyway, I'm very much used to it as I've grown up using 4:3 screens all my life - now Pillarboxing - that's a different story....

I'm sure reading DS or the bbc site on a 4:3 phone will be vastly superior to any other experience on a normal mobile platform.

Or you could stop wasting people's time with these inane threads.
What next - what AV for my phone? I have a choice of ...

Sounds like a Blackberry Q5, Q10 or Classic might be good for you. Maybe not modern by some peoples standards but great phones.

I remember coming across that phone when I was last on my quest to find 4:3 mobiles.

Groan. Hold the phone vertically as intended, cover the bottom third with your hand. Now you have 4:3 give or take. Or spend a few months dithering about finding the impossible phone.

I want a smartphone that's printed on paper and gets delivered every day. It what I grew up with. It's not ideal for watching 16:9 video but I want one. Any suggestions?

As you all know I'm very good at doing that , in fact just this week someone said the exact same thing about me. "Never go to an auction, everything will be gone before you've even considered what to buy".

It takes forever for me to make decisions. Even simple decisions like deciding what to wear in the morning, or what to eat in a restaurant takes like 10 minutes lol.

Now, hmm… Should I post this now, or should I try and re-word it or start over again… ?
