The Youtube vids I've seen give no idea of what it was like on the night sonically, I can only guess it's these 'smart'phones or other non-dedicated recording equipment that can't capture the true sound if you were there.
Ian sounds absolutely dreadful in almost all the vids I've watched, but on the night from where we were he was generally fantastic (apart from She Bangs the Drums, but the whole band were off for that imo, I guess playing it in the wrong pitch affected that one more than the others). Anyway, apparently you can watch shite streams (audio-wise) of the gigs via something called Periscope, I will probably check it out tomorrow

Downloading first audio bootleg (Friday's show)
![]() If you're in the area without a ticket you can get one cheap, even from a tout if you wait until just before they're on I considered hitchiking up from Kent a bit earlier, but I've probably left it a bit late now

I was there for the Wednesday show. Hmmm. I thought Ian was exactly as I expected. Can't carry a tune in a bucket, but has charisma to die for. Jesus Mani looked ancient! Those nights with Primal Scream have clearly taken their toll. There were definitely on going problems with the sounds which was odd as Public Enemy's sound was immensely loud. The sound for The Roses seemed all over the place at times. And yet, none of that seemed to matter. They're a unique band The Roses in that they have such a fanatically dedicated and huge fan base for what amounts to one near perfect album. It was kind of a thrill to be a part of it.

Got into them properly just before they split in the mid 90's.
Bought all the Seahorses, Ian Brown and John Squire albums over the years. I'd given up all hope of seeing them reunite and play live, then when they did saw them at V-Festival in 2012. Best gig I've ever been to. |
