The security checks for the grounds at these finals has been beyond questionable. I mean, that could have been something far worse than a flare or firecracker.
I'm actually surprised that given the lax security displayed over and over again that some real terrorists haven't chanced their luck.

That's an excellent point and quite frightening when you think about it. Serious questions need to be asked.

Croatian fans are not exactly strangers to bad behaviour and now their team has paid the price. No sympathy from me and UEFA should treat Croatia no differently from Russia. Suspended sentence, with expulsion one more infringement away.

Yeah what with IS saying they are gona target it, could be them and grenades/bombs etc... instead of flares, very worrying.

What an extraordinary conclusion - and a dreadful conclusion for Croatia.

They were 2-0 up and absolutely cruising, then they got complacent and let the Czechs back into it - then the crowd disorder spoiled their concentration further and they gave away a silly penalty for handball.

I'm not wondering now whether Croatia will top the group ahead of Spain, I'm now wondering whether they'll get the same punishment as Russia or greater.

Astonishing. Croatia have completely thrown those 3 points away.

And now UEFA will throw the book at their FA.

Should be penalizing Croatia for their fans. Disgraceful behavior again.

Insane last 10 minutes or so. Croatia played so well and will feel really hard done by but they didn't control the game as well after Modric went off. Great fight from the Czechs though.

As for the crowd, absolutely mental. Took the momentum away from their team and came close to ruining the game. Looked to me like the rest of the crowd turned on the idiots who threw the flairs, leading to scuffles in the stands. Absolute madness.

Imagine what you could take into a football ground in France if there was not a state of emergency. Unbelievable to see match after match with flares going off.

This match has clearly been seriously affected by the behaviour of the fans. The only good thing is it affected negatively the same team as the misbehaving fans supposedly support.

I would be shitting myself attending the Euros knowing people are managing to get smoke bombs into the stadiums undetected.

I'm sure that people are planning to do just that but they'd want to target 'big games' which would have a greater television audience. I'd hope that those matches have better security but security at all games should be tightened up really.

You can only assume that it's a combination of the fans who are bringing them in hiding them about their person well - and the security at the entrance to the stadium not conducting thorough enough pat-downs in their haste to get thousands of people in before kick-off.

It will be very interesting to see if UEFA consider this crowd disorder to be worse than the Russian trouble, because in this instance, multiple flares were thrown onto the pitch and one came very close to causing serious injury to a steward.

They got fined and had to play behind closed doors in the qualifiers so already been in trouble with UEFA.
