Nope it says 9.3.5. Is up to date

I tried to update but got the connect to iTunes symbol. Tried several times to restore to 9.3.5 but couldn't get the phone working again.

I updated iTunes and restored back to 9.3.5.without losing everything on my phone (although it was backed up to iCloud I didn't want to lose my health data). I then backed up (encrypted) through iTunes so I wouldn't lose anything at all if it all failed.

I'm now attempting the update to 10.0.1 again, this time using iTunes.

Ah sorry, I thought it was available from 5 up. Can anyone else confirm?

I am now attempting to download 10 from iTunes. Fingers crossed.

I'm going to wait a few days before installing as I know the problems of downloading on the first night it becomes available from previous experience. I'll wait hopefully until things have quietened down with less people hopefully downloading at the same time.

Given up with it now. Phone still in recovery mode and iTunes won't factory restore it (after saying it couldn't update it) because just as the restore progress bar completes, the phone spontaneously disconnects so it fails Will try again tomorrow.

I had to go out so left my son to sort everything out, it took a few hours but all 3 phones are now all updated.

What a disaster iOS 10 has been on my iPhone 6S.

It downloaded fine via wifi, then during installation told me I needed to connect to iTunes. Did that. iTunes said it couldn't update the phone and it needed restoring. After five attempts of restoring (each time it crashed and iTunes said "unknown error"), eventually I got iOS 10 installed.

I've spent three hours faffing with it tonight. I must say I'm not impressed with Apple at all right now. Live Chat were crap too and couldn't help. I know loads of other people with the same issues also.

That's interesting because I installed it on my 128gb 6s without an issue.

Exactly the same thing happening with me. Did you just keep trying the same thing to get it to work in the end or did you change anything (like different cable, different USB port etc)? Glad you managed to get it sorted eventually.

I also found Live Chat unhelpful.

What have they got rid of to put the Home app on there?

I've got the same number of apps on my screen but also Home, so what did they replace?

Isn't Game Center completely gone now?

Just started this on my SE then read this thread and turned off wifi quick while it was at the 'Downloading' stage. When I go into Software Update it says iOS10, not 10.1. I did a soft reset and went back and it's now saying 'update requested'. I assume if turn the wifi back on it will start downloading again? How do I stop the process and do it through itunes instead? Will it time out after a while with no internet access?

Edit: I can't seem to stop it but suppose I wouldn't be able to download the old version anyway. Will see what happens and use iTunes next time.

It will show as iOS 10 as its 10.0.1 not 10.1.

It won't actually install after downloading if you don't want it to, why not just do the iTunes update as soon as you can?

Although the main header says iOS 10 it will be iOS 10.0.1, that is normal. The issue is fixed now according to Apple so you should be fine.

OK, cool, thanks. Just panicked a bit as I can't seem to stop the download. But then realised that they wouldn't have 10.0 on their server any more anyway so it would be the updated version. I'll leave the phone to do it this time and go iTunes in future.

Edit: All installed and seems fine.

I like the new camera shortcut. Much better. Also like the new swipe right notification / news thing.

Yes I just kept trying to recover it via iTunes and eventually it worked, after about 4 attempts.

Took me several attempts to install Watch OS3 but I downloaded the GM of the Beta program the other day to try and avoid some of the errors downloading/installing people encountered.

One thing I've noticed is how much better WiFi is; I've done nothing different with my set up but I can sit in my back garden now and use it whereas with iOS 9 I had to disable it and revert to mobile data.

Ah, thank you yes, that was the missing one.

Thanks.

I'm glad they've added the Home app to iOS 10 as I can bring up the Control Centre and turn off my lights now without having to launch the app or ask Siri!

Anyone else finding Siri to be much smarter? Just shouted out for a 15 minute timer over a room full of kids and he's done it.

Hi all

apologies if this is an obvious question, but software updates no longer show up as a small red number in my settings icon on my iPhone.

Is there any reason for this - it means I only hear about them via the media or if a security related email newsletter I get mentions it.

If Apple are smart they are phasing the release, rather than have everyone downloading it at the same time. If you left it long enough without manually starting the update, you would get a notification.

Ah, I see.

I guess that's always been the case - it's just I'm more aware of security updates and the need to implement them since a scare a while back.

Thank you for the reply.

Yea, it's always taken a few days for it to come through as a notification. Plus I think the notification only appears on its own when the OS has actually downloaded in the background (without you knowing) when plugged in and on wifi.
