Pure McCartney

Anyone bought this double retrospective CD? It's his first career spanning collection and is available as a 4-cd box set too but bit dear at £27.99. How can they justify 4 discs being that price when the 2cd is £9.99 on Amazon? Three times as much.

Hubby's getting the 2-disc from son for Father's Day. Mix of big hit singles and lesser known songs and album tracks.

No.3 in this week's album charts.

I liked his song Waterfalls but that's only apparently on the 4 disc.

I got the 2 disc version on day of release. Music spanning his whole career on there, some we'll know tracks and a lot of lesser known ones and a nice little accompanying booklet with details of tracks and what albums they come from.

Sadly, no Frog Chorus

All The Best, released in 1987, is a great compilation with just the hits and has the Frog Chorus on it. I think it's his best-selling album here, over a million.

I think the golden rule with any McCartney compilation is that he must have no say about what goes in it.

Yes. He's chosen all these tracks and the sequencing apparently though.

He also seems to have forgotten the other turkey, Spies like us

The Frog's Chorus appears on the deluxe edition. 'Mary Had A Little Lamb' isn't on either though.

However, for me the bad omission is 'C Moon,' which isn't on either the 2cd or the deluxe edition - the other side 'Hi Hi Hi' is on the deluxe though.

I read that the original albums are in the process of being remastered and re-released and some of them have been already. I think I'll be waiting for the original releases of the other Wings albums.

I agree and think it needs to be re-released with the extra 3 tracks that were on the LP - 'Maybe I'm Amazed,' 'Goodnight Tonight' and 'With a Little Luck.'

The Wingspan compilation, which was released in 2001 was pretty good in my opinion too.

That's my favourite Wings song.

C Moon by Wings, not by Paul McCartney.

'Pipes of peace' was equally naff. Basically anything McCartney recorded after 1982 was crap.

They wouldn't fit on the single cd though. Maybe one but it's already 74 min long.

I absolutely love Dance Tonight. Great catchy little song.
