I don't think he has any screen presence. I'm not sure the actor will be able to do dramatic scenes. I feel another trip to Italy coming on...

I guess they are doing what they do with a lot of 'new faces' on previous characters. Much like when Martin II arrived, he was slowly fed back into the show so that viewers got used to the new face before to help the audience invest in the character before he as given new storylines. I never thought I would buy into a new Martin, but now James Bye is Martin Fowler for me.

Maybe it's the same with Jonny?

He to act as Johnny "sausage" Carter - close eyes for a minute, think, open eyes, deliver shit line like "I left here a boy and came back a man". Shudder. He's best off doing nothing than coming out with that sort of rubbish. I'm hoping he ends up with Steven and there's a line that includes "sausage surprise".

Very good point.
I do remember that Jimmy bye waa getting a bit of stick at the start and now I think it's safe to say he's really made the role his own.
Although to be fair he is a better actor than the guy playing Johnny..

Definitely easing him in. I'm sure Johnny Will get a big storyline soon

I welcome said underuse. At the moment he's a dull character and poorly acted. Maybe they'll give him something better to do at some point, which may make the actor more invested in the role?

Explain the presence of Lee Carter. Danny Boy hardly sets the screen alight.

Vastly overrated.

Sam Strike knew what he was doing when he quit the role. He said he didn't think there was a need for Johnny and he's been proven right a second time.

Since DTC said Johnny is loosely based on him, I wouldn't be surprised he only recast him just so there'd be that reminder once Sean O'Connor takes over. After Nancy left I'd rather they tried to bring back Carly or Zsa Zsa.

It has been a completely pointless exercise, so far. He's not a patch on Sam Strike's Johnny. Even his return was awful. It ruined such a dramatic/serious scene with Abi and Ben. He walks in as all that happens, talking the Carters' attention away. The scripting for that scene was so poor. Johnny could've come back the following episode.

If I wanted to watch a piece of wood I would take up the carpet and look at the floorboards for 28 minutes 4 times a week.

Both the Carter boys need something to do. They should be apprenticed to Phil and Grant who will turn them into proper East end villains.

I don't get why he sits at the end of the bar revising and doing coursework, I'd have thought somewhere like that where there is usually arguments/fights/karaoke would be quite a distraction.

Lee has had a quiet period too.

I do too, Sam Strikes doing so well for himself now

Despite being given fairly sod all to do, Sam showed promise and potential. He was very charismatic and his chemistry with his co-stars was evident from the first episode. He could be cheeky and playful but also be sensitive and nervous. It's easy to say that Ted isn't showing what he can do due to not being given much, but any decent actor will be able to deliver just by doing filler and day to day scenes.

He reminds me so much of Spencer Moon, but without the acting skills.

More to the point why is Tina Carter being wasted ?
