And one league title. Maybe if he was more of a team player, they would win more titles.

This is nonsense. To lay the blame for them not winning more leagues at the feet of their best player rather than their tactical ineptitude, insane management, lack of consistency with coaching, inability to build a squad properly and the fact that they're against the golden generation of all Barcelona golden generations is insane.

How many of them were scored in the La Liga against teams who were near the bottom or fighting relegation

Do some goals not count now? Would it be better if he didn't score against the weaker sides? Do you apply this standard to all strikers?

Owen10's posts about Ronaldo throughout the night have been bizarrely bipolar. One minute he's great and the next he's shite. One post you have your house on him scoring and the next he's never going to score again. Mental.”

I said he was a great player for his club, but not a great player for his country

I think you should read my posts more carefully

Austria were a disgrace tonight. Not even a hint of actually trying to win the game, and then they had the cheek to celebrate at the end, even though they're bottom of their group. Bizarre.

Portugal are shit too.

The Spanish league only has three great teams, and all the other teams are no better than the teams who were relegated in Premier League this season

Not a hint of confusion here.

That doesn't answer a single one of my questions, besides being bullshit. I mean, obviously Aston Villa are better than the Sevilla side that trounced Liverpool to win three Europa Leagues on the trot.

The final matches in each group have to be played at the same time to avoid collusion so there will be at least two matches on every day.

Well i think that all the comments i made tonight proves that that

Ronaldo is not a great player for his country

It doesn't answer anything.

I simply asked if you discount any other striker's goals against lesser opposition or just Ronaldo's?

And whether Aston Villa are better than Sevilla.

Am I suffering from a case of deja vu or have we had this discussion about Ronaldo being a good player or not previously??

Umm, yeah, was aware of that thanks.

The trouble is there is only one group per day for the next two days, that sucks. Especially bad given one of the days is a weekend.

The conclusion is apparently that he's good for club but not for country.

But also that every team his club plays against is shitter than a relegated Premier League team so his goals tally doesn't really county anyway. Or something.

He is one of the most of the most prolific goal scorers ever.

I think you're the first person to mention relegated teams and Ronaldo.

He has not stood out in one international tournament that he has played in though. Thats a fact. Newcastle and Aston villa were not competing in any of them.

I was arguing Ronaldo's case against someone dismissing his goal scoring record because apparently all the teams in Spain other than the too three are worse than Premier League relegation sides.

Yes Ronaldo has huge passion.............for himself ! He would rather score a hat trick and lose 4-3 then play crap and Portugal win 1-0 with someone else scoring.

I've developed an irrational hatred for Portugal ever since the European Championship 2000 and the World Cup where Rooney was sent off. It was a blatant red card and fully deserved but still enjoy seeing Portugal fail every now and then.

Humm....many people would say that Rooney stood out in Euro 2004, does that mean that coupled with being Man United's all time leading goalscorer (he will become that next season, as he only needs five goals to do so), does that prove he can do it at international level and club level, thus he is a better player than Ronaldo??

That is not me saying so by the way, I am just trying to work out if we are using the formula here correctly, that is the correct conclusion to come to??

. Rooney has not crossed my mind. I'm talking about Ronaldo and saying that he is a prolific goalscorer. Much more prolific than Rooney seeing as you mention him.

Oh I agree, but both will be their respective clubs all time goalscorers, so not too shabby an effort by both!

Maradona's the best ever, but neither Napoli nor Argentina were poor teams by any stretch of the imagination.
