It will take something big to get two past Courtois from these Irish players.

That's the problem with playing for a draw, you invite too many shots, eventually one of them will get through.

Attack is the best form of defence for me and Ireland haven't been good enough. Too much hoofing it up field and hoping for the best.

Really hope they can get something from this game though

With that challenge on Long combined with him being called for a foul in the first half when the Belgians leapt over his shoulders, Ireland should be fuming.

Ireland need to be careful as losing a second you fear the roof might cave in

Hard to see a way back into the game with the way we're playing at the moment

Belgium will have some belief now. They could make Ireland suffer.

Hard to see Ireland scoring one, nevermind two at this stage.

If Ireland lose this one you feel they would have to beat Italy as Belgium will definitely beat Sweden.

2 points in third place if they drew Italy would not be enough to get through

Ireland would be best bringing on Robbie Keane for a bit of an attacking threat, as they have got zero threat at the moment.

At least Ireland are actually building their attacks in the right way passing through midfield now rather than just lumping it up to Long hoping to get lucky.

They've responded well in general to going behind.

That's a killer for Ireland, that's a real killer.

Fine cross from Meunier, he's had a good game in general.

McCarthy just lost of track of Witsel.

Lovely cross and a simple header for Witsel.

Deary me, that was far too easy for Belgium's second.

Pointless putting crosses into the box when you only have one or two players in the box.

Stupid move there by Ireland, they need to be more adventurous and put more people in the box, if that is the tactics that they ate going to be using.

Edit: Game over now anyway.

No way can Ireland score two to even draw this match.

Poor defending. Witsel on his own, he couldn't miss.

Even drawing Italy is a big if. Italy might not need it, but they won't just roll over, in fact the lack of pressure might even make them play better, could end up seeing the sort of exhibition style game we saw with Spain yesterday when they beat Turkey 3-0. They were still pushing forward and going for goal, even after their second, though they arguably didn't need to.

Have to acknowledge a difference in quality here. Republic were playing ok for a while there but didn't look like scoring.

It was pointless though, with no threat, as they only had two people in the box, so it was just swapping one tactic that wasn't working for another tactic that was posing no threat.
