Funnily enough they are showing it similarly in Poland. Wales vs Russia is being shown on 3 channels; Polsat, Polsat Sport and Polsat Sport 2 whilst England vs Slovakia is on Polsat Sport 3 only.

That's interesting. In Wales it is pretty obvious why the match involving Wales would have greater prominence. Are Poland's broadcasters responding to what they think might be a desire among many of their audience, for understandable historic reasons, to see the Russian bear take a beating? Wales need a win to definitely qualify, with the England result determining if they play the Czechs in first or Portugal/Iceland in second; a draw would put the Welsh through in second unless Slovakia beat England, in which case they would drop to third and face a last 16 match against Spain or Germany, while a defeat would knock the Welsh out unless England beat Slovakia - and they could then still miss out as a best third side.

Russia need a win to qualify in second place, although they'll realistically qualify as a best third side if England and Slovakia draw - or if Slovakia win and Russia don't overtake England's goal difference.

It could very well be that they wish to see Russia lose.

Obviously hoping for a top two place, but in the back of my mind, with my usual Welsh 'optimism' (We've been badly burned by them before) I can't help feeling that Russia are really going to turn up tonight as obviously they've got to win. Still, as this is our first major tournament in my lifetime this is all new to me and am naturally a bit jittery already...and there's *hours* to go.

Russia have performed very poorly, and I don't think the talent level is there at the moment, they are very fortunate that they are hosting the next World Cup, as I doubt that they would qualify for if if they had to.

So with that in mind, and with Wales having Ramsey and Bale who are way above anyone that Russia have, I think that that they will have more than enough to see them off, and I am fully expecting to see Wales finish with six points, so then it would come down to the other match as to which qualifying position that puts them in, first or second.

Russia qualified automatically for this, so I'd fancy their chances if they had to do it for 2018 even if they've been warm death so far.
