Well done Wales! Looking likely you could play Northern Ireland in the last 16, which is brilliant news for both teams.

Then it'll probably be Portugal or Belgium in the quarter finals. |

How will we know who we play, who is the most likely of the 3 teams, I'm guessing Albania might just lose out unless Czech Republic fail to win

They play Albania or (more likely) the Czech Republic in the second round, and all things being equal, they should comfortably beat either of them.
Then it'll probably be Portugal or Belgium in the quarter finals. |

So no discussions on off side rules. Are wales exempt from this rule?

Done a look on Wales online if the 4 best 3rd placed teams come from grups B,C,D, F, then well will be D3 which will be Turkey or Czech Republic, I think that's the most likely scenario but nothing is certain. The only scenario I see where we come up against Northern Ireland is if the 4 best third place teams B, C, E, F and that would require Sweden beating Belgiium or Ireland beating Italy, and the Czech Republic failing to win tomorrow probably, so I think very unlikey we'll play Northern Ireland

It's an amazing night to be a Wales fan and I'm so jealous of friends at the Russia game tonight!

Great performance. Just so grateful to this team for getting us this far. Slovakia and Russia games are without a doubt the best feelings I've ever felt in football.
Top of the group

Not seen anything except the goals, but the more home nations going thru the better and I love it that Bale is currently top scorer.

Maybe Russia are just bored with the competition and just want to go home.

Buzzfeed has translated tweets from Russian fans about the match. People are not impressed...

Relatively early days, I know, but Bale is up there with Payet - in fact he edges it for me - as player of the tournament so far. I think Wales have exceeded most people's expectations and could now set themselves to see what it feels like to be in a semi final. If you don't reach, you don't grasp and with Bale and Ramsey, in particular, playing as they are, why not? Wish I could be so upbeat about England ...

Bale and Ramsey are basically the whole Wales team, but how they play should put Mr "highest paid athlete in the world" to shame. The old debate about national teams being unfair to players born in the wrong country and that you can't expect club stars to shine for their national teams. Well, you really cannot have a weaker team around you than Bale and Ramsey have, yet their phenomenal displays show that you don't need to have the best players in the world around you to play well
![]() On the other hand, yet another tournament, same old tournament Ronaldo... |
