"Who's to say the team we're playing in second aren't so much better than the team we'd be playing in third?"

Portugal rather than the Czech Republic?

I know the Portuguese haven't really played that well yet but they've looked rather better than the Czechs have.

Uncle Woy keeps going on about dominating 3 games but won only 1. How about taking our chances then we might win these games that we dominate!

As mentioned, it's easy to dominate possession against a team that don't want the ball. Slovakia were bloody awful, Andorra would have shown more attacking threat tonight.

I knew it was too much to expect an early goal or two. I'm already drained and having flashbacks to the game against Russia. Like then we are playing some fine stuff.
Fine?

True, Roy, England did have lots of chances - 27 of them.

How many of them were on target?

Five.
And of those five, how many were really chances that were good ones??

One, maybe two??

Just not good enough, having the ball is all well and good, but you simply have to test the opposition keeper more than we did.

Roy always says that we can do well. But he is defeatist in his approach, similar to Stuart Lancaster in Rugby only looking for good performances. We need an Eddie Jones character to take on the Football job and tell the team that we will win and we will win the tournament. The change in Rugby only highlights that the defeatist approach does not work.

Same old guff coming out of his gob.

"eventually we will make someone pay"

Yeah Roy, we believe you.
We will. But unfortunately it won't be in this tournament, instead it will be against Malta in World Cup Qualifying.

So Russia gave up the ghost playing the Welsh and we couldn't capitalise on our position. so what, we are in the last 16 and it could be better for us. We are not top of the group so not the talking point. Roy will change his tactics back for next game. Let the Welsh take the heat and glory as they do deserve it to a certain degree, and we can play in the last 16 with no chains hopefully. Our team are playing well, they just need to be unleashed from themselves. Maybe Slovakia won't get through at all so we won't have to meet them again?
After tonight's performance I really hope they don't go through. Horrifically dull and negative and they're a side with more in their locker than that.

Perhaps Slaven Bilic SHOULD be our manager. Guy knows what he's talking about.

You could say that if we didn't have past experience. England come up short in every tournament, nothing seem's to be any different this time.
Which would be fine were England knocked out tonight, but they weren't. They have qualified and because the tournament is so open being runners up may not be a big deal.

Have the inquest when they have actually failed.

It is kind of like watching us last season, having lots of the ball, but only creating one or two really serious chances a game, thus putting extra pressure on the players to have to convert them, as there might not be anymore coming in the rest of the match.

Very frustrating, particularly towards the end. Shame we couldn't have scored one early on, would've taken the pressure of, Slovakia prob would've had to do something and we might have got a few more.

Ah well, we're through in 2nd place, not the end of the world! And maybe we'll do better against one of the better teams as we'll have more space to attack instead of constantly trying to get through a wall of players.

I would far rather we practice our crossing, it has been abysmal in all three of the games.

dominant? if you can't score, you're not dominant in my book, even our win against wales only came at the last minute.

Totally agree. If it's the last 20 minutes or so and a point will do then fair enough, sit back and play for the draw. Slovakia were doing that from the first minute. Joe Hart might as well have been in the stand.
