If we play Portugal first, fat chance of that happening

I think we will get beaten by Portugal, then Ronaldo will destroy France

He might just have a chance of winning something for Portugal

All Portugal need is Ronaldo on the pitch. He is 3 times the player Bale is so you can imagine how hard it will be for us to beat them should we meet them next, Lee Dixon made agreat point, why would you change your wing backs when the back four basically need to develop an understanding between each other. This could be said throoughout the whole team although I agree with changing the forwards, I really do not agree wit changing both full backs and our captain like that, it basically broke the momentum completely. I dont know what is happening to Roy but he seems to be the most nervous person in the England set up at present. And if we play Portugal in the next round I am really not looking forward to it. Because the team needed more time to gel, we are facing a giant far too early.

To be honest, from the Quarter Finals onwards it doesn't really matter whether we finished first or second. We may get France but Wales will probably have to play Belgium which is a tough challenge anyway. In the semi finals, on paper we would face Germany but they'd presumably have to tackle Spain. The only round where Wales could have an easier match is the Last 16.

It does in terms of Rest days.

No difference in rest days between now and the final.

Wales: 4 days, 5 days, 4 days, 3 days
England: 6 days, 5 days, 3 days, 2 days

Not that I think either will get that far!

2days rest before the final?? Not a big difference?? WE are in this to win it that is the target and we should have planed for it, if you plan to get to the semis or the quarters what is the point in turning up?

Portugal will beat Hungary and win the group. That would leave Hungary in second. After that we'd probably have to beat France, then Germany or Italy (we never beat these in tournaments) then most likely Spain in the final. We'd deserve the title if we got past all that lot!!

It's only one less than the other half and that semi will probably involve Spain.

Reading comments on here and Facebook is so depressing, we've been playing well as far I'm concerned, we've qualified ffs. I swear if we had of nicked it 1-0 people would be saying we were lucky to top the group.

There's more to be optimistic about than negative imo.

so far in this European campaign - Played 13 - Won 11 - drew 2
It's not that bad

Roy came to reach the quarters. He basically threw in the towel before even starting and dnt gimmi that " oh its a young inexperienced team" it was a young inexperienced team 4 years ago too. Whats Roy been doing for four years isnt it his job to develop these players?

one days rest can make a HUGE difference if you ever trained before, you will know what i mean.

I'm too lazy. I don't think we're good enough to make the final anyway - we couldn't even top a relatively easy group. We'll get to the Quarters and bow out; knowing us probably on penalties!

Would that be the huge Portugal that drew 0-0 with Iceland and 1-1 with Austria?

And what understanding did our first choice full-backs miss out on when Slovakia only crossed the halfway line about 3 times?

I am less than convinced the result would have been any different tonight whoever Roy chose. We dominated the match, had 20+ attempts at goal yet could hardly put a decent shot on target, not too dissimilar to our previous 2 games

Well both he and their team generally have got to turn up and get going at some point.

Another team that under performs at a major tournament..

The issue might be playing another defensive minded side like Hungary - we looked pretty but lacked idea after a while which is concerning.

Any team would have been hard pressed to get a win against the negative way Slovakia played every player became a defender every time England got the ball they didn't just park the bus they parked a whole fleet of them.

Why do people worry so much about avoiding certain teams? If you have any ambition you have to face these teams, if you're not good enough you find out.

Of the changes we made from the starting eleven against Russia, I thought Wilshere was awful. His lack of fitness and lack of playing time this season really showed. Bertrand is nowhere near the level of Rose. Vardy was useless in that system, and Sturridge suited it better was mostly anonymous. I fee like Henderson tried, but he is bang average and pedestrian. Clyne was the best of the changes, but I don't think he is as good as Walker. He faded by about the hour mark, whereas Walker can keep going and going and going. He also wasn't really tested defensively, so had the freedom to attack all night.

For those who kept their spots, Hart, Smalling and Cahill barely had anything to do, Dier was again excellent and I thought Lallana was ok. I would have kept him on over Vardy.

Because it's nice to get a bit further in the tournament before being knocked out.

At least England got through the group stage this time just be happy with that anything else is a bonus.

But then it'd be the same guff about England only beating the dog and duck anyway, even if those sides have proven themselves. Give me the best that's out there and if we go out so be it, proper headline games. Getting battered by Germany was sobering but exactly the game we needed too. I think it's that this group stage format is too forgiving so doesn't have the urgency a tournament needs.

You get the guff no matter what, id prefer to have games to look forward to, it's only every few years, so it's nice to last a couple of weeks in the thing

My worst nightmare would be to be knocked out by Portugal. Don't think I will be able to watch if we get them in the next round... Will definitely not be able to watch with beer and in a public place...
