In the grand scheme of things it isn't that bad and no biggy if England don't do that well it's only football.

Yet when we broke Wales down, you claimed it was luck. When those other teams do it, it is because of their quality.
It was good play by us to score against Wales as we did in injury time, there was an element of good fortune however.

We just need to practice our crossing for a start, as that has been very much below par in all of our matches so far, be it in open play, or free-kicks/corners.

And how did those top teams do against teams that sat back and defended?
They found a way to win, whereas we just looked clueless, and just tried long hopeful balls, with no plan or idea as to how to actually score last night, that is the crucial difference.

We have no-one like Payet or Inestia, who can do what is needed at the crucial moments.
Agreed. The England players also tend not to be the main creative player in their premier league teams, which makes it difficult for us to do this at the intl level. Alli is probably an exception at Spurs but Wilshere is bettered by Ozil at Arsenal, Leicester its Mahrez, Man C its Silva, Liverpool its Coutinho, Man U its Mata. Hopefully Alli develops into England's talisman because I can't see who else could make things happen like say Bale does for Wales.

I dont think the set pieces from any sides have been convincing. I think that also reflects on the defensive abilities of most teams.

See, you are still going with the luck thing against Wales. Why? What is different when we score a late goal compared to other teams?

Well we cant pick those players. We can only pick English ones.

I didn't think I needed to spell it out but here goes: the point is we don't produce creative players.

The goal against Wales as I have said was very well put together in such a tight space, it was fortunate that Sturridge got the shot away as he did, but that I guess was down to a mixture of him doing well, and the defence not doing so well.

If we van somehow up our tempo from the Slovakia game, and come out actually looking like we know what to do with this round thing at our feet, then we might actually have a chance of doing well.

Hopefully that was just a very below par performance last night, and we can do better in the next match, as I think we will definitely have to, as there is no way that I can see us going though if we don't.

I dont see is winning the title, and have never expected that. if we do our best, and make a fist of our games, then I'm happy. That to me is how you support your team. We cant all win.

You're still trying to suggest we were lucky to get a late goal against Wales. If you look at any goal, you can go back to a position to claim the defence didn't do so well.

At least we agree on something, as I don't see us winning the tournament either.
I just want to see us play well and test their keeper on a fair few occasions, that is not too much too ask is it?

We've been doing that more than at many previous tournaments.

I dont see too many keepers getting tested frequently, due to organisation, and well marshaled defences.

The knock out stages always change things, because they are one offs. If we play the way we have been doing, I'll be happy, and we'll have a chance in games.

Whining about 'Passion' is the last, desperate retort of someone who knows that their argument is not worth discussing.

If we are quicker on the ball, and don't dally on it, and actually look like we have a game plan, and an idea on how to possibly unlock an opposition defence, rather than just punting long balls down the pitch, or putting in aimless crosses, then that will do for me.

I just want to get excited about watching the national team play, in the last match, that was distinctly lacking.

True, which is why I try to refrain from doing so at all costs.

I do agree we were a bit slow in that game, more so later on. There were a few times when Slovakia actually got forward and we won the ball back and I was hoping we would have a quick counter.

I don't think we were as crap as you make out though. There was an intent to attack, highlighted by the high number of shots we had,we just lacked the quality at times.

My nearly 7-year-old daughter who loves watching Euros evening games with me because she gets to stay up late and eat popcorn, watched the first half, said England were playing rubbish and that no team will score and went to bed (never happens!)

So there you go... a neutral's point of view

...that hit either a brickwall of a defence or straight at the keeper.

So you want us to win 3-0 every game? Dont we all, but meanwhile in the real world we are playing better than we have for years, and as a supporter you take that, and see how far it goes.

Some would say they defended very well.

This is what you get with Hodgson. I blame the FA for wasting 3 tournaments with this clown.
and when did this clown last lose a competitive game ?

He picked the best squad from those available.

He cannot be blamed for poor crossing and poor shooting. They are supposed to be the best players we have.

It's who he put on the pitch that's a problem. I can't believe he he brought Kane on yesterday, he has been awful so far and didn't disappoint.Henderson is such an average player. WIlshire was poor yesterday. He should have gambled with Rashford as a sub.

He has relied on Sterling being the player he was a few years ago unfortunately he has regressed. Where are the wide players who can offer some pace and take others on?

Even Jesse Lingard would have been a decent back up option.

I thought I was watching United with the dour possession football with no end product.

That's Roy's call I'm afraid.

BIB - Didn't we lose 2 at the previous tournament and were booted out at the group stages? How many tournaments were there since then?

Where did I say that I want us to win 3-0 every game, how have you come to that conclusion??

A testing shot for the opposition keeper is not one that always goes in, but is one that by its nature is a testing shot.

So for example, if we were to win 1-0 say, but we have four or five (maybe more) shots that test their keeper, that will do for me, I will be happy with that.

That to me is something that should be and is a realistic aim.

Get her on the TV as a pundit, she already seems to know more than Ian Wright!
