I just wanted a squad irrespective of who the players played for, which was balanced, included players with confidence and who were in form (as so much of this game is in the mind as well as in the feet), surely that was not too much to ask for was it??

Instead we get this horribly mixed up squad, which has unsurprisingly performed well below par so far.
Slightly OTT reaction there! There are a few tweaks here and there that we may all have made but I think this squad was largely what most people wanted. Certainly I was very happy with the starting line up Roy picked and was pleased to see he had picked Rashford for the squad showing an intent to be positive and attacking.

And I don't think they have performed under par, I'd actually say they've been pretty much about par actually! Nothing to be over excited about but not that bad either.

But we haven't played "well below par". WTF are you talking about?! We dominated all three of our group games. Did you actually watch those matches?!

The last match (of which this thread is based upon), having the ball and dominating possession is nothing to be proud of as Slovakia were very much pleased to see us having it, as they didn't want the ball, and were happy to just defend for the match and hold on for a draw.

It was then up to us to break them down, and score, of which overall bar about two moments, we did not.
So that is playing below par as far as I can see, as we didn't do our job of breaking down a team that only came to defend.

Are you just picking a subject after each match and constantly repeating it until the next England game comes round? Having repeated a million times "Sterling was a disgrace" its now breaking teams down and creating chances over and over and over again.

No, far from it, I am only replying to those that reply to my posts, which seems logical.

Have to work the goalkeeper though.

That's how football works. One team tries to break down the other. If we could predict what should happen every match, it wouldn't be too good.

As it happens, that draw wasn't too shabby after all.

You do nothing but complain, however much you try to deny it.

This England team is better than we've had for years, so why not just support them for what they are?

Fair enough. I don't disagree with your assessment of the Slovakia game but you implied in your original post we were well below par in all three of our group games. Sure, we probably were a bit below par against Slovakia but no way was that the case against Russia and Wales.

I complain because we have been playing poorly, if we do well, I will compliment them on doing so; so if I have been complaining a fair amount then that should tell you how we have been playing!

I don't know about this team being better then we have had for years, as previously we have had a good team, but once again under performed.

Hopefully this team will in the remaining match(es) will do well though, and I will be backing them all the way to do so.

Okay then, I thought that we we should have done more in both of those games, but I am willing to put the group games behind us, and fully focus and support the team in the upcoming Iceland match.

You claiming they are playing badly is not a fact. I think they've played well, as do plenty of other people, who seem to be realistic.

Nearly all of the professional pundits say so too.

I've no idea what you expect, because what you moan about is unrealistic expectations in modern international football for a young squad like this.

The fact we are much better than recent tournaments, and are dominating games makes me happier than previously, but I'm a supporter, and take the good with the bad. You should try it.

We could be better and take more chances in games, but we're playing better than we did in 2014 and possibly 2012/2010 so far
