Shocked at how expensive o2 are now!
Just wondering if there is any particular reason why o2 seem to be the most expensive now, by quite a large margin, are they offering something the other networks arent?
I have been with them for about 10 years and upgrading was always fine until a couple of years ago where i had to go through a ''third party'' to upgrade as the contract was about £7 per month cheaper, even though its the same network! I was due an upgrade at xmas but just opted for a monthly 'sim only' plan as i wasnt interested in a new phone, however now i want a new phone i am back looking at the deals on o2 and they are extortionate in comparison to EE for example, where one contract is £13 cheaper and offering MORE data! This seems to be the pattern for most of the tariffs on o2. Should i just leave and go with EE? (i have found much cheaper deals on vodafone aswell however i will not go with them as Martin Lewis said there have been loads of cases of overcharging) |

Yes, many people here will agree that (overall) EE have a much better network than o2 anyway.
You also get wifi calling and VoLTE (depending on your handset) with EE |

So EE can and will match other networks. |

not for new customers so if you are new and looking for good deal now 02 deals are better then ee for sim only and pay as you go Quote:
As an existing customer EE just gave me unlimited mins/texts in the UK/EU and 20GB data for £19.99.
So EE can and will match other networks. |

EE and Three are where it's at right now. They're much more modern networks. O2 and Vodafone are frowned upon here. Especially Vodafone. Their customer service is utterly pathetic.
EE for the best overall 3G/4G network and reasonable pricing. Decent customer service too. Three is not far behind EE for 3G thanks to the MBNL arrangement, but not as good with regards to 4G coverage. Three's 4G speeds are fine though. If I had a choice I'd be with EE, but because Three do all you can eat data I'm with them currently. Slam through 60-70GB a month with them with no speed restrictions. |

... Both the O2 and Vodafone networks are improving at a rapid pace thanks to the Cornerstone joint-venture upgrades for 4G. Where the networks have been upgraded, I think they perform pretty well. Vodafone's customer service is another matter, as is their current billing system problems related to them changing over to a new billing platform. Three's 4G coverage isn't as widespread as it should be, and they're not currently rolling it out in a hurry. (The now-blocked merger with O2 is likely one reason for the lack of recent progress here.) At 60-70GB a month you're definitely a heavy data user! Most people aren't getting close to that. |

EE and Three are where it's at right now IN MY AREA
You can't disregard networks because they aren't that good where you live, work or both. Just because they're not that good for you they could be good for someone else 4/5 miles down the road. I'm on O2 and they're great for me where I live and out perform EE who my parents are with and Three who I had a brief affair with behind O2's back a year ago, and that's why I stay with them but if things changed I would consider my options no doubt about that. |

It is with absolute certainty that EE is by far the UK's best network. Overall. I don't work for them or any BT Group company. |

I can get fibre broadband here, and did have it in the past, with speeds of around 66Mbps, but if I get an average throughput of 30-35Mbps down and 20Mbps up with Three's 4G network then I don't see the need to be tied down to fixed line broadband. I'm not a gamer so the slightly higher latency of 4G over fixed line doesn't bother me. |
