The love in for Kane didn't last long.

Are you just policing the forum for criticism of players who were praised previously and vice versa?

No I am not a fan of either. Never have been really but seeing what they have done in the last three games is crap. Just come across lazy

Lallana has been excellent so far, he shows so much more desire than most others on the pitch. The amount of times he wins the ball back is fantastic. Lallana will always work for the team and has looked good in all the group fixtures so far.

I bet people can't wait for Dier to have a bad game so they can say Dier was dire!

Lallana's not been so bad, starts games well then disappears and unfortunately hasn't put his chances away.

Kane hasn't had many chances and not really looking the player he's been at Spurs all year.

Saying that, I wasn't exactly impressed with Vardy either that game, forgot he was on the pitch in the second half!

Lallana has been fine and Def no worse than the others so not sure why he's being singled out

Fair enough, I might have had my Liverpool tinted specs on there.

At the very least though, he's been one of our better players. He's playing well.

I think Lallana's done well this tournament but does tend to fade in the second half. Kane has been extremely poor but I'd still play him ahead of Vardy, simply so Vardy can come on in the second half and run at tiring defenders.

I take it the OP is referring to Natalie Lallana, Adam's sister. I confess I didn't know she was playing in this tournament. However Adam Lallana has, if anything, played better for England than I have seen him play for Liverpool. He has two problems: first, his finishing is not good enough, this is not a recent problem but has been evident for some time; second, he seems to run out of steam very quickly after half time, so he really is only up to delivering 45 minutes for the team.

It isn't happening for Kane at all; whether this is because he is exhausted from the season with Spurs, because he is not getting the service he requires or for other reasons I don't know, but his performances on the pitch so far in this tournament would not merit a starting place in the team. But then none of our attacking players have consistently hit the back of the net or looked like doing so (Sturridge/Vardy looked good against Wales, nothing special at all against Slovakia). I'm inclined not to refuse to pick them all, but to persist with them in the belief they will start converting the chances they are given.

I think I've said elsewhere that Kane's performances are similar to his performances at the U21s last year. Could be a loss of sharpness end of season or it could be plain old anxiety. I think Rooney used to suffer from both these but he's clearly got over them and is now a good tournament player again. To think people were claiming he was a dead weight pre-tournament!!

I think the problem for England is that we have too many players who are only 6 or 7/10 standard at tournament level. You need at a few 8s and 9s to really compete.

Lallana's been fine, just no finish to him. Kane looks like the season's just been that little bit too long. I'd drop Eric, he's been Dier.
