Group D: Croatia vs Spain - (21/6/16) KO 8pm, ITV1/HD
The game will also be broadcast online at ITV Hub and on BBC Radio 5 Live and talkSPORT.
Only 5 meetings between these two previously with Spain leading 3 wins to 1. The only Croatian win came in 1994. Croatia have only failed to score once in their last 11 matches at the Euros. Spain are now unbeaten in their last 14 games at the Euros and haven't conceded for 690 minutes. |

Permutations:
Spain need a draw to top the group and clinch a potential last 16 match with Sweden or Hungary/Portugal/Iceland; a defeat will put them through in second to a likely showdown with Italy. Croatia need a win to top the group themselves, while a draw will put them through in second place; a defeat would also see them finish second unless the Czechs won their match by a big enough margin to overturn the goal difference deficit, which would put Croatia third and potentially playing Wales in the last 16. |

Good game due to both wanting to win to likely avoid Germany in the next round

Real Madrid v Barcelona again, in terms of the two best players on show, Modric v Inestia.

spain unchanged for the third game... see roy, that's how you build momentum, you don't make changes for the sake of making changes.

Both Modric and Mandzukic missing from the starting XI for Croatia tonight due to injury concerns.

Good test for both teams, Spain to edge it for me 2-1 (more likely 1-0, but I live in hope of more goals).
Would be refreshing if Croatian fans managed not to throw flares and fire crackers on the pitch - I know, I'm old fashioned. Wrote this before I read Sattrega's post re injury concerns to Modric and Mandzukic. Make it 2-0 to Spain. |

Also, UEFA banned the Croatian FA from selling tickets to people known to them as hooligans for the rest of the tournament - but that couldn't apply tonight as the tickets had already been sold. The net result is that the fans who caused trouble against the Czechs will in all likelihood be in the stadium for tonight's match. |

I've gone for a Spain/Czech double, confirming a draw in one of the two games.

The interesting thing is UEFA didn't give Croatia a suspended punishment based on subsequent crowd behaviour, they just fined them.

We could be watching this with one eye on the stands just waiting for something to happen. |

There were some reports earlier suggesting that these "ultras" plan to disrupt this game including making their way on to the pitch at some point.
We could be watching this with one eye on the stands just waiting for something to happen. I don't understand why they weren't given a suspended expulsion from the tournament like the Russians were. Edit: Some of the Croatian fans are planning to attack the referee?! |

Any chance in this one we could actually get a game where both teams try and attack? That would be refreshing.

Croatia might be better finishing third than second |

Weird was on holiday in Croatia two weeks ago and you could not have met nicer people .
So the countries extremists definitely use football as their vehicle |

Odd Spanish change kit - it looks like they've just daubed up some white T-shirts.

I'm shocked by all that talk about invading the pitch, attacking the ref. I don't watch sport to see that sort of stuff; like most people, I watch sport to escape for a while from it.

What a lovely goal!
Exquisite ball by David Silva took out half the Croatian defence. |
