Croatia,as they say, making a very loud and clear statement. They had to hang in at various times, especially in the first half, but that underscores their resilience as well as their well founded confidence in their ability. This is just what the tournament needed, interrupting the relatively untroubled procession of the usual teams.

But Del Bosque was being lauded for not making any changes two hours ago and look what has happened to them. They looked knackered after an hour. He's made no changes and may have cost them big

That is an astonishingly bad result for Spain, they knew the difference between the path in front of them if the won the group and if they came second. Then they went 1-0 up and still managed to throw it away.
