And if all goes to plan we could have England vs France and Italy/Spain vs Germany in the quarters
Bet Germany are so happy to have won the group now |

Ridiculous format that you can win a group and play a side 3rd in the weakest group or win another group and play 2nd in the toughest group.

makes hodgson's changes look even worse now... to think we could have had croatia & belgium as our biggest rivals... now it's spain, italy, germany, france and possibly portugal...

Croatia,as they say, making a very loud and clear statement. They had to hang in at various times, especially in the first half, but that underscores their resilience as well as their well founded confidence in their ability. This is just what the tournament needed, interrupting the relatively untroubled procession of the usual teams.

This is the tournament defining get result if Croatia hold on.
Spain, france, England , Italy , Germany all in same half of draw. I think Croatia will get to the final, I wouldn't rule out Belgium either. It is opening up for them too. |

If Italy play as well as they did against Belgium I think they will beat Spain.

Slaven called it! He said that Spain has trouble with Croatia. But I've said before I'm not convinced by Spain.

Finally this may slow down the de Gea hype train, where every save he makes is made out to be somethign that no other keeper can make...

That was an entertaining match. Spain vs Italy is one to look forward too. Croatia have a lot of quality in their squad.

I fancy Italy to win that, I think they've got the strength in attack to exploit Spain's defensive weaknesses.

That is an astonishingly bad result for Spain, they knew the difference between the path in front of them if the won the group and if they came second. Then they went 1-0 up and still managed to throw it away.

Spain looking good so far but a few uncomfortable moments at the back. I think an efficient counter-attacking team could get at them, but I'm not sure if there is one in this tournament.

The Croatian pundits reckoned pre-tournament that this is their best side since the 90s.
